I Need My Best Friend – Part 13

‘Do you think it is unfair to Bette that I’m staying here so much?’

    ‘Does Bette?’

    ‘No.’

‘Then that’s all that matters, as long as you aren’t giving her false hope, I know we are all up in each others lives but right now you two need to do what you think is best.  If you have to get on a plane and get out of town do it.  Don’t let what you two have go until you’ve tried everything.’

    Later That Night

    ‘Are you at the airport?’

‘I’m waiting to board.  How was your day?’

‘Good, I’ll tell you all about it when you get here.’

‘You’ll be asleep when I get there, it’ll be late.’

‘Wake me up, I need to ask you something.’

    ‘Ask me now.’

    ‘I can’t, you’ll have to wake me.’

‘All right, I’ll see you soon.’

When the car pulled up Bette immediately noticed Tina had left the same lights on she always had when Bette’s trips brought her home late.  She was sure there would also be a light snack prepared and waiting for her just in case she wanted it.  She was also sure the similarities would end there.  There would be no beautiful naked wife waiting to spend the rest of the night welcoming her home.  But there was a note on the table.

    B –

If you’re hungry there’s a little something in the refrigerator.

    T

Oh well, the lights were on and there was a snack, two out of three would have to do.

She noticed the envelope under the note.

    Dear Bette,

I missed you before your plane even landed in Chicago.  I’ve missed you for quite sometime and I’ve especially missed you the past few weeks.  Even though our recent time together has been tumultuous and at times sorrowful there has been an underlying passion that had gone missing long ago.  I’ve missed the old Bette that courted me and won my heart, that was filled with enthusiasm and desire for all things new, that was ambitious but content to walk away after a hard days work.

    1. I’m honestly getting a bit worried here…but let me say this was one wonderfully written chapter…intense, loving, sad, beautiful…very well done girl!!!

    2. As Bette said, “what we’re going through right now is intensely personal” Alice asks too many prying questions and Tina should draw the line and not answer them. But you need to do the exposition…
      Thanks

    3. Alice gave her{Tina} something to think, that if they didn’t go back together, would Bette LA. I know if it was me,my old shirt wouldn’t hit me in the butt and I would be gone,.Could stand to see the LOML with someone else. Tina seen to want her cake {others} and to keep Bette in her life at any cost. Wonderful chapter

    4. Thanks so much for the long chapters. It really allows us to get totally caught up in the story…and such a wonderful story it is. I understand Tina’s fear…but her going back and forth is starting to worry me. Thanks!

    5. As_always Great!! I love that you post the two chaps together, you get more into it, It was deep, it feels like if Tina need a little experimenting just to be sure, in spite she said she didn’t want to date other people, dunno… great writing!!

my favorite part thou, Tina putting Alice in her place, gish she even kick her!!
quote: I may know some things about Bette that you don’t. (lol, duh!!) :D

    6. great chapter — Tina’s tentativeness is palpable – and understandable – wants and fears are all mixed but Bette’s growth and calmness is helping the situation – there shouldn’t be ultimatums – I don’t think that Foxworthy should force them into any decisions – it is the direction that counts and their communication is improving – again, thanks for the enjoyable, truthful chapter..

    7. You touch my heart when I read this story, it seems so real, I loved the letter from Tina it was so sweet, and right now Bette and Tina need that time together, but you can’t break them up.
