    I Need You Here – 7

"Tina!!!" Shane and Alice exclaimed, as the blonde entered the house.

"What is it? What’s going on?" Tina asked in concern, finding Alice and Shane in the living room. "And why do you look–"

"Okay! You’re here. We can go." Alice said quickly, kissed her cheek, and turned to leave.

"’Bye, Tina." Shane agreed, also turning for the door.

"Hold on." Tina grabbed both their arms, and held them back. "What’s going on."

Before they could answer, Bette’s voice resonated throughout the house.

"*****, James, tell them I’ll handle it! I will talk to the artist, I will handle the movers, I will ***** handle it. I’m ***** gone for a few days and the CAC falls apart?"

"That’s what’s going on." Alice told Tina. "Love you, T."

With that, Alice and Shane bolted out the front door.

Tina rolled her eyes, and took a deep breath. Somewhere, deep inside her conscience, she had a suspicion that James was bearing the brunt of Bette’s wrath for her own disappearance from their house. Bette’s house, she reminded herself. Dammit.

"No. ***** that. James, tell Franklin…" Bette wandered out into the living room to return to Alice and Shane and tell them she couldn’t join them for brunch at The Planet. Instead, she found Tina. "Where are Shane and Alice?"

"Gone." Tina held out her hand. "Give me the phone."

    Bette hesitated.

"Give me the phone." Tina repeated.

    "Why?"

Tina walked over, and grabbed the phone from Bette. "James? Hi, it’s Tina. Do you know the number of the artist? And the movers? Do you know what needs to be done? Then you know what you have to do. Now put Franklin on the line."

"T, what are you doing?" Bette asked worriedly.

"Getting you fired," Tina muttered under her breath. She had never liked Bette’s boss at The CAC, in fact she never really liked Bette’s job. She had loved The Bette Porter Gallery, but The CAC had meant more money, and when you think of starting a family, more money meant a big deal.

Bette watched wearily as Tina waited on the phone. She had often heard Tina make snide remarks on The CAC, and by now the resentment must be a full-on hatred.
