I Want…I Want…I Want…I Want…I Want
“It’s okay Tina. I understand. Why don’t…”
“No, I don’t think you do,” she interrupted him. “I can’t. Not here, not at your home. Not anywhere. I just can’t.”
“So what, now you’re saying you don’t want to be with me at all? What the fuck, Tina!” Henry’s frustration bounced off the walls.
“I am attracted to you,” Tina responded, trying to appease him. “I am. And, I want to experience having sex with a man again, but….”
“But what then?” Henry could help but ask.
“I want Bette more,” she stated confidently, knowing for the first time in a long time that she really did want Bette more. Knowing for the first time in a long time that her fears would not be eased by losing Bette, and it was not worth losing her just to satisfy a physical urge.
Henry stood up, his frustration turning to anger. He KNEW he shouldn’t have asked Tina out. He KNEW it. But, no…he couldn’t resist the beautiful blonde. His ego couldn’t resist the challenge of “turning” her back to the heterosexual lifestyle. What a schmuck! He thought, shaking his head.
Seeing his anger, and not knowing him well enough to know how he would react, Tina just started talking. “Look, I have been honest with you all day. I find you very attractive. I like you as a person, and I know that what you can offer me would be comforting, and safe, and yes…it would be sexually satisfying. But…”
“But what?” Henry felt like an idiot asking the same question again, but he couldn’t help himself.
“But, it doesn’t compare,” Tina whispered as she caressed the picture frame with her fingertips.
~ ~ ~
After Henry had gathered up his sleeping son, they said their awkward goodbyes, each knowing that no matter what Tina decided to do with her life, they wouldn’t see each other again.
Tina grabbed a glass of wine and walked over to the house phone and just stood there staring at it. She finished the first glass, went back for the bottle, and returned to the phone, continuing her silent vigil. Finally, after she had consumed a half a bottle she reached out with a trembling hand and dialed the number she knew without having to think about it. The other phone rang…and rang, and then went to voice mail.

This is what should have happened! Excellent writing Sea! Thanks for this wonderful post.
Hmmm…direct and honest communication. Look what it can get you.
thanks for posting again, sea! brilliant writing as always. would have loved that episode to have ended this way!
Seahurst, Rusty my ….., AWESOME.. as it should have been!!!!thank you – hope all is well.
Welcome back!! I never understood the way IC set up S3 and the way it unfolded. As a viewer and longtime fan, it was not satisfying at all. It was stilted, awkward and the conversations between Bette and Tina were so sparse and unrealistic. After 8 years in a relationship, that they wouldn’t thoroughly discuss their problems was totally irritating, unauthentic and just plain cruel to the fans. I love your resolution and revisionist outcome. It definitely seems logical. Tina wouldn’t throw 8 years away in such an impulsive fashion. Please consider writing more.
Only you could do this so well,It was oh so wonderful. thank you
That was a great take on an incredibly crappy season. Wish it would have happened that way.
Wish you could have infiltrated IC´s head – what a sensational S1-6 we would have had.
I love it when you guys rewrite the episodes. So awesome, thanks for the post.
girl I was about to be mad at you for bringing up one of the most painful scenes of the series to watch. I hated that scene with Henry in their bedroom. I always thought that was disgusting. But needless to say by the middle I realized you took it in another direction. I wish the writers of the show would have had the talent and foresight to write it up this way. great job Sea!!
Wow Seahurst, your writing didn’t seem rusty to me. That was beautiful and I wish it had happened that way in S3 too.
Oh, if the series could have only taken this path. Wonderful as always. Please write more, we miss you.
that scene in s3 was always hard to watch…Laurel is a wonderful actress and she pulled it off but i was always wondering why Tina did what she did…your version is much better…thanks for that romantic side of you :) (it was great to see you again, 3 years is indeed a long time)
Sea that was just a brilliant rewrite of such a painful time. Great job. Glad to see you back!
I hate to whine but… Can’t we have more? I like this one better than the one that actually happened in the show. :) Thanks for sharing this with us. You made me day!
Thank you. I wish, that would have happened in the movie…
Excellent as always. I’ll take squeaks from your laptop anytime!!
Wow…so much better than what really happened. Bravo. I’ve missed your writing. Are you sure you want to end it there? :)
That was beautiful. Thank you!
Thanks for posting again! I wish that’s how it really went.
love it when you get things going round in your head. were sorry we got the days mixed up. wed have loved to have met you.
Hello mate, what a fab chapter – I love it when you get an idea and just can’t let it go till its written down. I loved the spin on the telephone conversation and at last we saw Tina really saying it how it is. Thanks for a great read. x
So beautiful. Thank you.
I was so excited when I saw your post this morning but I was at work and I knew that I wanted to devote more time to savor it! I love your loyalty to Tina and I would have loved to have seen a similar scene played out in S3. I thought that IC took a lazy way out when JB became pregnant. It never made sense for Bette to be pregnant and I can understand how the 2 of them could grow apart when Bette lost her job and Tina had to go back to work. Tina wanted to stay home with the baby and Bette was not stepping up to the plate. There was blame all around. When Tina went back to work, she resented Bette and maybe she had attractions to men but it seemed so random…..just any man….not a man in particular. I actually liked her choice of Henry…..she was stronger than him and maybe she needed this. My biggest thing that I resented was Tina fucking him in their bedroom ……so rude….and then giggling and making out with him in the kitchen for Bette to see. I saw this as a total departure for Tina. I sometimes wonder if IC knew her characters at all. I know that you know them better than she does!!!Thanks for the post…..sorry to be so wordy!
Hello my friend! This was excellent, the journey you took us on through Tina’s emotions was very real. Sometimes, no matter what the situation, you just want to feel worth it and have the person you love validate that by fighting. I get the realism, and it is very real, and I’m glad you took the time to construct this chapter! Thanks Sea!
If only this had happened!
soooo much better use of the i need speach, great surprise to see your name on a post!!!!
I loved this version of season 3 instead of the sadistic version that was shown on the screen. I hope that you will want to write again because you are a brilliant story teller.
I can finally stop rubbing my eyes trying to erase the disastor that wasIC/Henry.
That was excellent, this is what we wanted to see on the show. Thanks for the wonderful story and hope to see u soon!
I’ll take your rusty weak spots over IC’s crap any day of the week.LOL! I loved the symbolism of Tina switching that light on in her master bedroom to the light being turned on in her head as she became fully aware of what she was about to do. This episode from S3 always disturbed me. The way that Tina was so quick to get with Henry and then to screw him in their bedroom was just disgusting. I didn’t watch alot of S3 because it just didn’t make sense to me. The story line didn’t flow with S1 and S2 and I don’t think Tina would meet Henry, go for a dip in the pool with him and then have a cheap romp with him against her bedroom door- all in the same episode! YUCK! It was seriously messed up. Thank you for writing the dialogue that I wish IC could have put on the show.I have a great idea, Seahurst. How about you lubricate the keys on your laptop by rewriting the entire third season of the Lword? LOL! You know you want to….please? **insert pleading puppy eyes here** PS.
God! I needed that! Thank you!
You may not have written in awile but no one can see that. Thank goodness for the writer’s on this site, you make everything right, as it should have been. our version of that scene is so much better and more in tune to what Tina would have done. So happy you wrote this. You know something, I’ve just had a scathingly brilliant idea – why don’t you and some of our favorite authors get together and re-create all six seasons over in a way that would have kept “our girls” together happy and so sompletely in love, that it would create a new standard for women loving women. How about that? Hope you continue this.
OKay I’m supposed to study and everytime I ditch my course and read your story again! :) I love the phone call :)
Wow! That was so beautiful and very emotional. It’s a shame it didn’t happen that way in the show. Thankyou.
Rust? What rust? :D Thanks for posting.
Simply lovely. Thank you
I am a die hard romantic so this story pushed all the right buttons. I have now erased the S3 episode and replaced it with your version. You ROCK!
It’s always a pleasure to see you post. And as always, I like your version than IC’s. Thanks for this.
Thanks Sea! This is what should have happened.
Thank you thank you thank you. What a relief. My heart was hearting when I was reading the first pages. this is what should have happened, but as usual IC made our community looks like s… Thank you for showing that we have self power. Thank you for repairing our image through your post. Wonderful post, very touching. Love it. thank you
This brought out a smile…and it was all pains watching season 3.
wow, Seahurst, that was absolutely amazing. I almost didn’t read it because the title reminded me of the disastrous season 3, but I can’t pass up a piece of your writing. And I’m so glad that I didn’t. That was really, incredibly great. It’s nice to read your stuff. Now, not to be greedy, but will we every find out how Bette and Tina will deal with Dani thinking she might be a lesbian? No pushing though ;)
Exactly – this is what should have happened. Brilliant, awesome amazing story – no creakiness or rustyness at all :) Thank you love your writing. :)
Hi Sea… like you i hated season 3 and only watched it once… when it aired… and i never brought the DVD… to bad season 3 didn’t pan out the way you just wrote it… thanks for your take on season 3… Mary
OMG ! This was soooo great, Seahurst !!! Loved every single word. In fact, I really hope the feeedback you’re getting is going to make you want to write some more. Thanks, I had a wonderful time reading this.
I skipped season 3 as well. I love your version. Communication changes everything! Thanks for posting!
This makes me so angry because it didn’t happen this way instead Tina had the audacity to not only bring Henry in their house but she also fucked him in their bedroom of 8 years, no compassion at all!!!!arghhhhhh ok the show isnover let me calm down
My God, how I love the writers of this site.
When I was reading I thought: I do not believe that the will
repeat the same horrible scene that happens in the third season,
but grace, you did what you should have done in the IC series, after all
von they lived eight years and not eight days! none fought for
another to regain his great love.
You did an excellent job even more professional than
the authors of the series.
CONGRATULATIONS!
