    Conversations…But where will they lead?

     

    CHAPTER 90

    Chris recognized the man who walked into the bar…It was the guy who he had spoke to a few weeks ago…The guy who appeared to have not come to terms with his daughter’s sexuality…

    Melvin ordered a beer, and then sat down in one of the booths at the far end corner of the club…Well away from the bar.

    A couple of minutes later Kit came out and of her office, and walked over to where her father sat…She looked like she was fuming…Her face was like thunder…

    Bette had phoned her really upset…Telling her what Melvin had said!

    So she didn’t cuddle her father when she walked over to him as she normally would, and that did not go unnoticed by Melvin…

    “No hug for your old man tonight then?”

    “I’ve just spoken to Bette daddy!..”

    “Oh, I should have guessed by the look on your face..”

    “Why daddy? Why can you not just accept things, and be happy for her?”

    “My daughter is not a homosexual!…It’s a phase! – That – That Kennard woman has somehow managed to bewitched her!”

    Kit laughed loudly and said “That’s preposterous! Bette could never be pulled into any situation she didn’t want to be in – She’s too headstrong!! You know fine well Bette knows her own mind! AND she is more than capable of making her own choices in life – She always has!!”

    “But that blonde bimbo is a user! – A viper! – She is using Elizabeth..”

    “Excuse Me?” Kit screeched…Making some of the customers look around…

    She blushed and then lowered her voice “Daddy…In all fairness, you have never even tried to get to know Tina! -She is a lovely girl who makes Bette so happy…You really should give her a chance!…After all she will be part of our family in a few weeks?”

    “She is and never will be a relation to me!..” Melvin hissed..

    “Daddy!! – You really need to accept the fact that Bette is gay! – She’s attracted to woman!…She sleeps with woman!!…Well one woman, and she going to…”

    Melvin cut his oldest daughter’s sentence off…

    “I don’t want to hear this…It turns my stomach!!..”

    “Why? You are attracted to women aren’t you – Is it so difficult to accept that your daughter is too?- And frankly your attitude turns my stomach – What an attitude for a lawyer to hold!!”

    8. no, parents like melvin never learn. they are trapped in the need to be RIGHT all of the time no matter how much harm they cause and unhappiness-in fact they are not happy people.
