    Part 23

    “I was so proud of you today C.K”!

     

    Christopher Kennard whispered softly to his wife who lay contentedly enveloped in his strong arms, her head lying against his chest listening to his heart beating softly

     

    “I love you Christopher…and don’t you EVER forget that”

     

    The greyish blonde replied as she trailed her fingers across her husband’s bare masculine shoulder, her fingers creating patterns on his soft skin.

     

    “I love you honey…I’ve always loved you, and always will”

     

    Mr Kennard said softly, his body shaking with emotion…He was trying to control himself…he didn’t want to break down in front of his wife…She had enough to deal with.

     

    “I’ll miss you sooo much Christopher…You’re a good man…I have been so happy with you. You are everything I had always dreamed of in husband…You have always been here for me, even when I was wrong…”

     

    Chrissy said staring directly into her spouse’s expressive hazel eyes

     

    “But sweetheart when I’m gone I want you to be happy… I’ve had a lot of time to think about this and I know you’ll need time to grieve but I want you to…”

     

    Mr Kennard silenced his wife with a “Shhsh…I don’t want to hear talk like this”

     

    ”Don’t tell me to be quiet Chris! – This needs to be said. – I want you to never rule out the possibility of meeting someone new…Maybe even re-marrying..”

     

    The words came out evenly..but internally it was a struggle for the ailing woman to contemplate her husband 40 years with anyone but her, although she would never admit that out loud.

     

    Christopher tensed he was hating this conversation…the cruelty of his wife’s condition…He couldn’t envisage his life without this beautiful lady..In a voice thick with emotion he brokenly said

     

    “I don’t want another woman Chrissy! – The only woman for me has always been you!…You know that! – I have loved you since I was 14 years old.. Since the first day I laid eyes on you! I could never..never  love anyone else!”

     

    “Honey I have never doubted your love! We have had an amazing life together..but all I am saying is promise me in time you’ll consider dating again?”

    2. I knew that this chapter was going to be hard to read and it was just that. Now that the end seems to have come for Mrs. Kennard, I hope that they all can survive and become even a closer family unit.
