If it makes you happy – Chapter 29

Tina watched the ice swirl around in her glass while she continued to roll it around and around as she tried to make sense of her life. She didn’t look up when someone occupied the seat next to her at the bar. She did look up as the woman ordered a Belvedere dirty martini in a crisp English accent.

“And another for my friend here, she looks like she needs it.” Helena added as she raised an eyebrow at Tina.

“I can’t, I’m driving.” Tina replied flatly without even so much as a hello.

“I’m sure you’re car will be perfectly fine in the morning, you however could be a different story.”

Tina smirked as she looked back at her glass before raising it her to lips and draining what little remained of it’s contents.

“What are you doing here?” Tina asked as she placed the tumbler back on the wooden bar.

“Funny, I was just about to ask you the same question.” Helena replied as she looked at Tina a little more closely, “I can only think of one thing that has the power to do this to you.”

“Do what to me?” Tina questioned mildly irritated by Helena’s inference.

“Well, make you drink in a bar alone.” Helena clarified as though it was the most obvious thing in the world, “I know this is about Bette, what I haven’t figured out is what asinine thing she’s done now.”

“She just…doesn’t want me anymore.” Tina replied sadly in a voice so quiet that Helena could hardly hear it over the hum of the bar.

“What on earth could make you think that?”

“I don’t think it, Helena, I know it.” Tina replied irritably, “Some things you just know after living with someone for as long as I’ve lived with her.”

“Did she tell you that?” Helena persisted as she steeled herself for whatever reply might come her way.

“No, her other girlfriend did.” Tina replied with a sad, small laugh, "The one she’d made lunch plans with today."

“Tina, sweetheart, what happened exactly?” Helena implored as the bar tender placed a drink in front of each woman and collected payment from Helena.

    1. HG I was reading this story awhile ago and then saw it again and just got caught up. Wow, the drama. You just get elated when Abby breaks it off with Bette and Bette and Tina start moving forward, when all of a sudden the world shatters again and Abby’s back and Bette seems taken with her again. Crap, I hope you update again soon, because I am totally hanging here!

    2. i was almost scared to read this chapter…i’m glad Helena is there for Tina and telling her to fight for Bette, i don’t want Tina to give up, but they are right, it’s up to Bette now to choose once and for all…please, let her make a right choice

    3. Wow, Helena really seems to have the situation pegged. I do hope that Bette isn’t seriously considering “dating” Abby and that Tina has things blown up. Though last that we saw Bette I was nervous about her ability to make the right decision. You definitely know how to keep us on the edge of our seats.

    4. Wise words from Hels there. I hope Tina takes something from that chat. Meanwhile, back at the ranch… I’m dreading the choice Bette might make, and really hoping she thinks it all the way through before she acts, whatever the decision she makes. thanks for post, HG.

    5. Howmuch time has passed between the last update (bette making a move on Abby by the seaside) and this one? Are Abby and Bette “dating” or was that just a one off? And how did Tina find out about the two of them “dating”? Questions, questions. (A couple of typos that were surprising coming from you, Hack. But still a wonderful story. Thanks.)

    6. So happy to get this recent update from you. Can’t wait for more. I enjoy reading your work b/c it is interesting, intelligently written and adult. And fun too. I really enjoy longer chapters but more frequent posts is a bonus as well.

    7. great update,i’m glad you showed as how tina was feeling.now all bette has to do is get her head out of her a** and see it’s tina see wants forever and ever.pps

    8. One thing I know, Tina can’t make Bette’s choices for her. Bette has to take and be responsible for her own actions with Abby. I’d like to see Bette actually live up to her words about loving Tina, and going slow. Thanks for writing, HG!

    9. HG, you rille me up, I guess thats what good writers do. I don’t think Tina should have to bear the burden of Hel’s words, she has put herself out there more than once, flaws, uncertinties and all. I think it’s time Bette steped up to the plate. Thank you, Md

    10. I kills me to read this….I’ve been spoiled in reading those all loving and very triumphant Tibette stories…and now here I am driving by a carwreck and yet I can’t not look. All that is meant to be a compliment I hope you know. Thanks for posting…

    11. Helena to the rescue – really – what life issues won’t be made better by a good dirty martini. Ah – bette isn’t going to know what her! Well done, HG. Great read.

    12. “grow up and stop chasing any cute piece of ass that happens to smile at her” awwww man! lol…seriously though helena made some good points. i wonder how tina will fight back…will she become this little sex kitten? i dont think bette will go too far with abby this time.

    13. I love this story, but I feel like I’m coming and going in fits and starts, waiting for the next episode as each new one ends in a pregnant pause. …All the better to keep up reading with, eh? Good stuff! Painful, but Good! Thanks! …and imagine, Helena the voice of wisdom, advocating Tibette restraint!

    14. All the better to keep US reading…You’ve got us all strung out – the sign of a good writer! You’re one of the old all-time-best. Thanks!
