    I’ll always love you.

She was already sitting at the bar, twirling her choice of drink when he arrived.

“I guess there’s really no starting over, is there, Bette?”  Henry of all men had joined her at the bar and had the audacity to speak to her.

    She shrugged.

“So what have you heard about me?” He continued.

She lifted the glass to her lips and drained the alcohol, slamming the glass onto the counter and turned to him.

“Nothing–nothing at all.” Being so close to him, she wasn’t sure if it was the alcohol or his sudden presence that made her dizzy.

“Really, I find that hard to believe.” He chuckled and raised his hand, asking the barmaid for another round for him and his drink-mate.

“You know Henry, I don’t care, okay? I just don’t fucking care to know anything about you. Why is it so hard for you to believe that?”

    He smirked. “Because Tina.”

“Fuck you! Fuck you! Just fuck you!”  She slammed her fists on the counter.

Tears formed in the eyes of the man beside her. Unbeknownst to people, Henry had, in fact, cared for Tina. He had fallen for the blonde and her daughter. When his friends and family learned she was a lesbian they all spoke behind his back saying what a fool he was. He knew it. But it didn’t matter to him. That’s how much Tina affected him. She had this enormous heart, a way to make anyone feel loved and protected. But he also knew that Tina’s heart wasn’t his.

“You have an incredible connection with her you know that. It’s not a question.” He smiled. Bette was staring at him, wondering where he was going with this.

“And you have friends, a lot of them who care about you, really care about the both of you. I know they want you both together again and Angelica.” He smiled. He had truly fallen in love with the little girl, Tina and Bette’s.  Bette smiled thinking of her daughter.

“You both have Angelica—a child that represents the enormity of love between the both of you.” He raised his beer to his lips, taking a huge gulp. As the alcohol settled in, so did his heart.  He then turned to Bette and spoke sincerely.

    1. Now that was very nice. It was nice to see adults who could look at a situation differently and give each other another chance to make a mistake right. Kudos!
