“Yes, Mummy. I told you I made the donation to the museum as you requested.”

Bette halted in the doorway, and peeked around it to see Helena sitting in a chair with a phone to her ear.

“Yes, Mummy. She is a beautiful woman. Not my type. But she is beautiful.”

    Bette’s eyes grew wide.

“Yes, Mummy. I know it’s a marvelous tax write off. But that’s all it is to me.”

Bette felt her heart fall from her chest. And Helena arose from her chair to walk toward the kitchen.

When Helena disappeared, Bette ran through the sitting room and through the secret passageway, in dire need to escape.

    Chapter 22

As she dashed into her room, Bette couldn’t shed her gown fast enough. She pulled it over her head and threw it on the bed.

Bella, who was asleep on the bed pillows, was startled awake and stared at Bette through sleepy eyes.

“Oh, Bella, sorry to wake you, sweet kitty,” Bette apologized, flipping open her suitcase and pulling out a pair of slacks and a blouse.

Bella removed herself from her repose and slinked down the mattress to find a new comfortable position atop Bette’s discarded nightgown. Her paws padded into the silk and she curled up contentedly, as she watched Bette grab her cell phone from the dresser and disappear behind the bathroom door, leaving it slightly ajar.

Bette quickly slid her legs into her pants and her arms through the sleeves of her blouse. With her shirt still unbuttoned, she dialed Alice’s number and began throwing her cosmetics and lotions into her bag.

“Hey, Porter! What’s shakin? How’s it goin’ at Peabody’s love shack?”

Johnathan, who was having brunch with Alice at The Planet, looked up and raised his eyebrows.

“Shut up, Alice, and listen to me,” Bette whispered excitedly. “What are you doing this afternoon? Can you pick me up at the airport?”

“Uh, what airport?” Alice asked in bewilderment, shrugging her shoulders at Johnathan.

“LAX, you big goofball,” Bette shot back.

“Aren’t you staying in Sonoma until tomorrow morning?” Alice inquired, still perplexed and taking a sip of her coffee.

“No! I’m coming home on the first flight I can get!” Bette said, trying to button her blouse with one hand.

“What’s wrong, Bette? Where are you?” Alice asked in attempt to slow Bette down and make some sense of the situation.

“I’m in the bathroom getting dressed,” Bette answered quickly. “Can you pick me up or not?”

Bette slid her feet into her shoes.

“Well, er, yeah, sure,” Alice replied.

“Good! Thanks! I’ll call you from the airport to tell you what time,” Bette said in her hushed tone.

“Why are you whispering, Bette?” Alice asked, glancing over to Johnathan and shaking her head to indicate her continued confusion.

“I don’t want her to find me,” Bette answered.

    “Who?” Alice asked.

“Helena! Who do you think, dipshit!?” Bette replied, placing her hand on the door knob and opening it slightly. “Fuck!” she said, closing it quickly and quietly.

“What’s going on, Bette?” Alice inquired. “And where’s Helena?”

Bette turned and paced across the bathroom floor, stroking her hand over her brow and across the top of her head.

“She’s on my bed,” Bette answered, distressed.

“Well, what’s she doing?” Alice asked, beginning to enjoy and to take the impromptu and abnormal game of twenty questions in stride.

“She’s petting Bella,” Bette quickly answered, beginning to fan her face nervously.

“Who’s Bella?” Alice inquired, her eyes growing wide and her mouth sliding into a smirk as she looked at Johnathan.

“Helena’s beautiful cat!” Bette said, frustrated not only with Alice’s many questions, but also with the fact that she was now cornered with no escape route from the bathroom.

“Bette, are you in there? Come out please, Darling,” Helena called to Bette from the bedroom.

“Shit! Fuck! Damn!” Bette whispered in state of complete agitation. “I gotta go, Alice!”

    Bette flipped her phone closed.

Johnathan looked at Alice across the table.

“What the hell is going on?” he asked.

“Shit, I don’t know,” Alice answered, shaking her head. “The best I can figure Bette and Helena are playing some kinda kinky weird game of hide-n-seek.”

Johnathan squinted his eyes in curiosity. “Kinky hide-n-seek?”

“Yeah. Bette’s trying to get to LAX…but she’s trapped in the bathroom hiding from Helena…while Helena’s sitting on Bette’s bed petting her pussy.”

    1. Helena was NOT talking about Bette! Make it so! Now I know zhee, you are just sitting there reading of our collective discombobulation and mass franticizing and rubbing your hands together in glee..do I hear an evil laugh???

    2. LOL, i agree with squirl but think she put it far too poetically. hit it and quit it. heh. bette needs to get over herself and check in, but i totally dig the whole kinky hide ‘n seek thing. that’s an interesting idea kids, though i think it might waste one’s time when one and one’s hottie can be doing other things…bette and helena should always do those other things, 24/7, like the superhuman lesboids they are. pps!

    3. Hello zheese, I think that you are handling this perfectly, at the beginning Bette saw Helena and the fact that it was some of her actions that caused her world to spiral out of control in the first place. Then to become smitten with the person that you at one time thought hated you and for all intentions you hated beyond control. So I think that Bette overreacting to something that might or might not have been said about her is only human, we all at one point in time misunderstand and misdirect ourselves by omitting words and certain meanings in what others are saying to and about us. I love the cat and mouse play here, and Alice is so funny… PPS, Sincerely, JC

    4. is this a dream…yeah, that’s it…it’s a dream…like when pam had a dream for th entire season of dallas…..zheese…you’re bad…but sooooo good!!! PPS

    5. Now Bette, you know you’re my girl but this is ridiculous…you are walking out without knowing what’s going on!! Helena isn’t gonna let you go but I can’t believe you think the worst of her..or are you just sudenly scared and running, and it really doesn’t have to do with what you heard? I hope they sit down and TALK…and then go back to bed.

    6. Whoa, this is not Bette, I want her alpha side to show up and just tell Helena what she heard, so that Helena can explain why she told Peggy that…great chapter Z

    7. Yeps everybody is right this isn’t the Bette we know, our Bette isn’t a wuss. She needs to confront Helena with what she heard and give i to her big time like she did with the little dwarf after the car accident; that’s the Bette we want right girls???

    8. How can she leave when there’s such a sweet pussy on the bed?!!? Well…we’re in for a cat fight or a little belly rubbing…either way Zheese this is turning out purrrrfect! I bet little miss Bellebottom knows the answer…or should we call her Bellena?! haha >^..^

    9. hahahahaaaaa, Z, and you really try to convince yourself that you are NOT a tease ? who are you fooling there ? as for Bette, what did she just freaked out about ? herself and her feelings, or “thinking” that Helena was playing with her… well, for a player, it was a VERY elaborate game ;-) I don’t buy it : Bette just misunderstood what Helena was talking about… and she’d better open the door and talk with Helena, like… NOW, or she’ll probably regret it for a looooong time… and I just love Bella… she’s just like my cat ;-)

    10. I love Alice’s last sentence!!! That was sooo funny!!!! I hope that Bette will let Helena understand if she does let her get a word in. I really want Bette to stay and let Helena ravage her until she is completely satsified. Thanks!!!
