To say that Kelly and Bette were shocked would be an understatement. Alice had hummed the "Eye of the Tiger" them all week, Tasha had given her props, Shane looked a bit intimidated, and Helena thought it was hilarious. Of course when Kelly had tried to set an assault charge she was met with a very angry Kit Porter who scared the blonde to the very bone. No later than a week, Kelly had opened a new gallery in New York and suggested Bette run that one while she stayed in LA, very very far away.

Tina was pleased and Kit was smug. Bette was excited as well but had to hold it off to chastise her girlfriend and sister on their childish behavior.

Kit had shrugged and said, "hey, it worked."

And Tina said, "that was the best hit I’ve ever given anyone."

Maybe Bette’s hesitation to ask Tina about the poem was that underlying fear that Tina would hit her. She laughed at the thought. It took a lot to anger Tina, especially to that point. And even then, it wouldn’t be likely that she would ever raise a hand to her. In fact it would be nearly impossible. There were two exceptions of course, them being the discovery of Bette’s affair and that one time she got drunk and threw herself on Tina to the point where she punched her in the nose to get her off.

Bette thought of all her mistakes all the time and she had begun to think that maybe she wasn’t enough for Tina. Jodi had never compared to Tina. Not even in the most miniscule way. Not personality, beauty, heart, soul, passion, determination. She just didn’t hold a candle to her. Though Bette did love and care for Jodi, the deaf woman was exactly the type of woman that would be terrible for Bette. In a way it was a self-inflicted punishment. A constant reminder that she would be with a woman who was nothing like the woman that owned her heart completely.

Then she lost it. Seeing her with Brenda. The woman had double Ds and was attractive. Tina seemed content with her and it was pure torture to see them grinding together on the dance floor. It had become painfully obvious real fast that Tina had done things with this woman that she hadn’t done with anyone else. And that was proven the first time they got together again and Tina had spoken dirty. It was not something she had done before and Bette knew it was an influence from Brenda, but she enjoyed it too much to mention it.
