CHAPTER 101

Tina arrived at the gallery a little out of breath and worrying about her outfit. Since they had started dating Bette had shunned most art events preferring lazy nights together with a movie and some food. But this event was one that Bette felt she needed to attend and she wanted Tina by her side. Bette had shown Tina text messages from a couple of women who were openly flirting with her. Bette always deleted the texts once Tina had seen them but they had talked it over and agreed that it was time for them to be a much more public couple to ward off unwanted interest from what Bette called “ the usual suspects “. So what she was wearing and how she came across really mattered to Tina tonight. She had picked a black dress that Bette had never seen her wearing before and she had bought stockings to go with them and she was wearing the highest heels she could walk in and still look dignified.
The whole weekend away was still so fresh in her mind – it had been a really special few days. They had both chilled out so much, managing to put the whole mess between Helena and her mother behind them and the main conversation had been them and their future. Bette was in no doubt that she wanted to share her home as well as her life with Tina, the blonde knew that she felt the same. It was when and not if they began to share a home. But for now Tina knew that she would have to be on the top of her game to lay down a marker that she was Bette’s partner and all the other women should look elsewhere. At the same time she needed to do it with a subtleness of touch – Bette probably wouldn’t enjoy a cat fight over her – she was far too classy for that and she expected the same of her partner.
Tina produced her invitation and was shown inside a huge gallery where every surface seemed to be white – the floor and the walls were all a very pure white colour. There were about twenty people milling around chatting – Tina noted with irony that all the women were skinny and wearing not many clothes, while all the men had too much facial hair and were dressed in loud shirts – she grinned. Bette often mocked the art world and her predictions were evident this evening. Tina spotted Bette move away from two women and go to look at a sculpture. Tina easily moved her round the room to reach Bette. The brunette was wearing a black trouser suit that showed off her dark hair – she was also wearing high heel boots which added to how magnificent she looked. Tina approached her from behind and squeezed her ass making her swing round – her face broke into a huge smile
“Hello babe “
“Hey Tina – nice dress “
“Thanks “ Tina twirled round to give Bette a full view of the dress and her long legs in the high heels. Bette’s smile showed that she fully approved of the dress as well as the woman in it. Bette took Tina’s hands and kissed her
“Thanks for coming with me “
“I like to protect my girl “ Tina replied. Bette beamed – comments like that always made her smile. Tina returned the kiss and squeezed her waist
“I like your outfit “
“I like yours “ Bette replied. Tina looked around the room
“Have any of the women in this room ever eaten a carb in their lives ?”
“I doubt it and if they have it was a mistake “
Tina chuckled “So point out who is trying to steal my access pass to inside your pants”
Bette raised an eyebrow “I assume you are not going to give it up without a fight”
“I will scratch the eyes out of any woman who even thinks about it” Tina replied lightly.
“I don’t doubt it “ Bette replied
“And that makes you hot doesn’t it ?” Tina asked quietly
Bette grinned “I might “
“You do “
Bette laughed “ Do you want a drink ?”
“Do I need a lot of alcohol or is this going to be fun ?”
“It will not be fun – well not that much fun but I do want to talk to a few people and make some contacts – it won’t be all that much fun for you I’m afraid”
Tina squeezed Bette’s hand “ Its okay – this is your job and its important to me “
Bette nodded “Thank you – I really appreciate you being here and looking “ Bette sighed “And looking so hot”
“Come on – lets get some wine and see if there is anything to eat – I am really hungry”
“So am I – I will take you to dinner when its safe to escape”
“Thanks “
Bette kissed Tina again and took hold of her hand – she wanted to make a statement about her lack of availability and she hoped that the word would get around that she was very much off the market.
