Helena was chopping fennel for the fish that she was preparing for her and Emma. As she prepared the herb she thought about how odd it was that she should get on so well with a woman – well a woman old enough to be her mother. She didn’t think of Emma in those terms but she had endured Peggy and Bette’s barbs on the subject.

Helena put the knife down and turned round – Emma was just wearing Helena’s white robe that was a size too small for her and was tight across her breasts

Helena raised an eyebrow “I didn’t see any scars on your body when I looked earlier – but then my mother is good at not leaving bruises “
“I didn’t exactly win her round but I calmed her down “

“Well they are all getting worked up about this when its got nothing to do with them “
“It seems that the only person who is not getting worked up is your daughter “
Emma smiled “Yes – she’s a good one is Tina “
“I hope she brings Bette round “
“She will “ Emma said “I know that you know Bette better than me but you have to see what I do which is that Bette is wrapped around Tina’s finger and visa versa “
“I do see it – I hope she does talk her round – what else did my mother have to say “
“We had a disagreement when I said that I was having fun and she retorted that if I wanted to have fun I should get a kitten “

Emma laughed – she was aware that Helena was just wearing a long black shirt and that underneath that shirt was nothing but her smooth, delicate skin. She swallowed and taking hold of Helena by the neck she kissed her passionately. Emma was just about to slip her fingers between Helena’s thighs when the doorbell sounded. For a few seconds they ignored it as the kiss deepened and Emma’s fingers lingered on Helena’s leg. Helena broke the kiss

Helena kissed Emma and headed towards the door. She glanced through the peep hole and grinned – this would be fun – for her if not for the person on the other side of the door.

Bette was standing carrying an overnight bag on her shoulder and in her hand was a brown paper bag containing a take-away.
“Hi – is this a bad time ?”
