    “Bette”
    “What is it James ?”
    “Peggy P is on her way up “
    “Have you seen her ?”
    “Yes – just spotted her on the CCTV “
    “Thanks – I will come out and greet her”
    Bette put down what she was doing and headed out to the main part of her gallery to greet Peggy who she had invited to the gallery to see the newest piece that Bette had acquired. Bette was hoping to do some personal lobbying for Helena and Emma as well as possibly sell a different item that she knew was right up Peggy’s street.
    “Is this visit business or pleasure ?” James asked
    “Both with luck “
    “Is she still in the anti-May to December love affair camp ?”
    “Yes “
    “Good luck – I am going to see if we have a spare cyan toner cartridge in the storeroom. Just know Bette that Peggy is being like this because she is genuinely shocked at what Helena sees in Emma – she’s protecting her daughter even if she is actually hurting her “
    “Thank you Dr James “ Bette said “Now vanish “
    “Consider me vanished “ he replied and headed into the storeroom and closed the door loudly.
    When Peggy walked in Bette was fiddling with floor lights around a piece of sculpture.
    “Don’t you have staff to do things like that Bette ?”
    Bette got up and looked round
    “Its been annoying me – I was just trying to get the shadows to fall in the right places on this – what do you think ?”
    “it’s a pile of metal badly welded together “ Peggy replied sarcastically.
    Bette raised an eyebrow at Peggy. Being a very close family friend did have its advantages – one of them was to call Peggy out when she was being a pain in the ass
    “Who pissed on your cornflakes Peggy ?” Bette said back with great politeness
    “Everyone “
    “Well its just the cosmos getting its own back on you – you do that to enough people. Do not give it out if you cannot take it “
    Peggy laughed
    “Thank you Bette – I needed that”
    “You did “
    “Is this when you try and lobby me for trying to point out to my daughter that she has lost her freaking marbles”
    “No – this is me standing here telling you that you are playing a dangerous game Peggy “
    “At some point my daughter will come to her senses “
    “Do you want to come into my office ?”
    “Is James in hiding ?”
    “Yes “
    “We can talk here – I want to look at your gallery – I haven’t wandered around it in a while – would you care to walk around with me “
    “Of course “

    1. So that’s the problem…. grandchildren. Well, there is Tina. And if Tina has children, then Peggy would have great grandchildren. But that is a lot of ifs. Emma might go for another child if Helena would be the birth mother. But that is a lot of ifs as well. Wanting grand children is not enough of a reason to want to destroy your child’s happiness.

      As far as Bette and Tina? It would appear that Tina really does want a life time relationship with Bette, but she wants to enjoy this time of change in her life. I have no doubt that Tina will come around to thinking about marriage and children but she wants to smell the roses as she goes. Things are going well for the two, but Tina is not ready. Patience dear Bette. Enjoy what you have and soon you will have what you want – marriages and possibly children. And take some more trips to the park and sit under the tree and talk. Sometimes just planting ideas and talking will move things along.

      Great story….wonderful writing and I love these characters…. Can’t wait for more.

    2. Grandchildren, that is why Peggy is against their relationship and ready to destroy that?! So sad.

      I love the relationship that Bette and Tina have and i agree with Martha, they should visit the park more and talk about everyting in a relaxed mood.
