    Je t’aime (part 3 of 3) – Finale

    Je t’aime – Part 3 (Finale)

The smell of fresh croissants and eggs began to drift through Bette’s mind as she imagined a diner plate filled with all her favourite things to eat, and beside it a steaming cup of coffee, thick and strong, Tina sat opposite her berating the amount of food and cholesterol on her plate, Bette’s post coital appetite for breakfast always slightly alarming.

She turned and stretched, the cool sheets of the bed a sensuous relief to her overwrought body, aching muscles and warm thighs still remembering the way Tina had lain between them over and over the night before.

She ran her hand across the bed, her eyes still closed as she searched it for her mate, opening them in a rush as she quickly discovered herself the only one in it,

Tina grinned, and with just a robe wrapped around herself leapt onto the bed and presented Bette with a different rose to the one she’d had the day before, hurriedly yet carefully stuffing it between her teeth,

Bette giggled, grabbing her and pulling her down to cuddle, the bed seeming empty and lonely without her in it,

“Is that croissants I can smell?” Bette asked after several seconds,

Tina grinned and nodded, “Uh huh …”

Bette rubbed her nose against Tina’s face, so in love with her that very second that her heart threatened to explode or simply stop, too overused in its plight to continue.

Tina giggled again and pulled away, dragging her reluctantly to sit, Bette grinned and covered herself with the sheet as Tina disappeared in the direction of the door, returning with the breakfast trolley.

They sat in bed with the morning paper, enjoying fresh croissants and strawberry jam, delicious fruits, and eggs for Bette on top of toasted English muffins, her breakfast vice.

Tina snuggled against Bette’s side, content to watch her as she ate, pausing alternately to sip her coffee or juice, refreshing herself from the enormity of jet lag,

“Are you tired baby?” Tina asked, as they neared the end of breakfast,

Bette turned to her and frowned inquisitively, her childish enthusiasm such a turn on, “No … not really, why?”

    1. ok, so i realized that i always have too much to say, and then don’t say it all because i wait and read the whole story before i comment…so now i’m going to comment after each page. so far, i must say, that i love your analysis of this couple. you know how i feel about them, having been the most frequent poster on the anti-tibette thread as of late, but really, i love your take on them. i always have just gone “huh, yeah, i can see that” when you’ve told their story in new and interesting and different ways. so i like that a lot. and i also liked tina’s little date plan for bette…can we say seeeexy, a woman planning all of that? as the very disorganized person you know me to be, i think thats one of the most romantic things i’ve ever read. hehe. ok, on to read the second page baby. and for the record, waaaah, at missing talking to you before i took off to go drinkin’ on the town. i think i owe you a phone date;) xo

    2. thooose crazy kids and their pda’s…is this what i have to look forward to in paris, dear? is paris a city of pda? well yay;) and woah on that second page, just wow…woah…wow…it made my tummy flip. intesely. then i swooned. then i admired your writing. then my mind wandered…in a good way…mmmmm…page 3 now;) xo

    3. *sigh* well, i was enjoying your story thoroughly when family issues intervened and i lost my groove-on. but i did want to add that i loved the art history, however brief, and i definately loved how you repaired tina and bette’s sex lives. very lovely, and also…*blush*…well…yeh…very good on all levels. i am so seriously looking forward to reading what you come up with next baby. xoxoxox

    4. WOW, totally Amazing. This was a wonderful story of love and finding that lost love again. It gives one hope that you can work things out with the ones you love.

    5. wow… what a beautiful story… i loved every word… and i bet when they got home alice had a banner waiting for them and the gang was all there… and they were again the happy family they were born to be… thanks for this…

    6. We apoligize for not reading your stories before. You are an amazing writer and the plot you unfold is very subtle and enchanting. We hope to read more of these amazing stories of yours. Thanks for sharing them with us. PPS.- Lucero & Marsha – From Mexico City

    7. Sofa~ I am absolutely speechless and breathless. As I said after the second chapter, I think this is your best ever. A tale of pure romance woven so beautifully with these flawed and yet intriguing characters who are so deeply in love with each other. I couldn’t wait until the next word and then I was sorry because I knew the story eventually had to end. Any chance we might convince you to extend the story?

    8. I loved this and Like mightymouse I feel I could gush for hours about this story. But I want to re- read it all together before commenting…and I have to hurry off now to read Sunday Mornings update as I have so very little time for these wonderful diversions.

    9. I’m like Alice… Speechless! What an amazing tale!!! There are so many things I’d like to praise about this story and most especially about this chapter… I love the way you mingled a beautiful… no, an amazingly magical lover’s reunion story with adressing some of the major peaks in their falling appart, and expressing it through words and actions… That was very intense, and must I say, very effective! May I add that you chose some of my favorite places in Paris, Musee d’Orsay and Montmartre… You would have had the list complete with Notre-Dame!…;) I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t make it to the Sacre-Coeur and the amazing view of the city you get from up there, but I of course totally understand the urgent priority at hand…;) And thanks for not picking the Parisian artistic cliche of the Louvre for once (even though Le Louvre is of course absolutely breathtaking), and instead promoting le Musee d’Orsay, which is such a wonder in itself!… Thanks Sofa, as always your B&T are so beautifully depicted and written, for my purest enjoyment!

    10. Hello Sofa, I’ve read and re-read this story and you are completely brilliant… you can weave words together like a master crafts person… your elegant romanticism is just so very emotional and heart felt… and the gravity you give towards the details and the sheer honest with which you have portrayer their love for one another is just so perfect. You writing is like watching a beautiful flower bloom… its poetic and emotional… and just perfect. Sincerely, JC

    11. This story was truly awesome and I have truly enjoyed reading it. The special things Tina did for Bette, arranging for her to meet the museum director and all the different artists, that was so special and something Bette will never forget. The day, dinner, etc were all things that told Bette ho=ow very much Tina loves her and it was indeed a day shw wil never forget. It was a pleasure to read. Thanks for sharing thi sstory with all of us TiBette fans.

    12. Hey, sorry for my super lengthy post. I should have divided it into two. Anyway, I just learned that the site has decided to do away with the awards. Bummer. This short story would have been a sure winner. I know you wrote this story and your other stories from the heart, without thinking about getting any recognition. So bless your generous heart and may your Muse keep on inspiring you to write more great stories. You’re a winner in my book! :>

    13. UNE GEMME! REMARQUABLE! EXCELLENT! In plain English, WOWWW! I am bowled over by the poetry, lush imagery and tenderness of this short story. I was too busy the other day to post a comment on the 2nd part in which almost every paragraph dripped with metaphors and vivid imagery. So I’ll mention some of my faves. How do I love this story, Sofa? Let me gush the ways: “The image burned inside her mind like a scar…” / “She kissed her gently on her forehead, before sitting back and sniffing the scent of the rose, its delicate perfume filling her senses and reminding her of all the things she associated with Tina: the flowers in their garden, walking through the park hand in hand after summer rain and her perfume on the pillow in the morning, making Bette ache for just a few stolen moments more.” / “Tina moaned, Bette’s weight upon her something she missed, the greeting that wasn’t just a kiss more a union of their being, felt everywhere outside their lips and more, travelling the length of her body from her fingers to her toes like the image of an electrical circuit, no beginning and no end.” / “The feel of Tina’s body half covering hers had the effect of a purring kitten laid upon her chest or the soft rhythmical ticks of a clock, lulling her to sleep.” / “After which Tina stood to the side, intermittently sharing the water as she helped Bette to cleanse and refresh, wiping soap from her eyes and running her hands the length of Bette’s body as it glistened with slippery soap, her eyes astonishingly wide as she took it all in again, committing to memory every outline, every curve and every flaw.” / I SOOO LOOOVE the way you opened a paragraph with this line: “Her eyes found Tina’s and she lost herself for a moment in those sea blue orbs, like swirling pools in the deepest ocean…” AND ENDED IT with this: “…pulled Tina close as she finished making love to her, smiling helplessly as Tina cried out against her chest, biting down hard against Bette’s shoulder as her orgasm rushed through her like the crest of a wave.” => Masterful use of the sea, ocean, wave images into one, unified, powerful paragraph about their throes of passion. BRILLIANT! And these are my fave bits in the finale: “The river and the sky mingled, their colours the same, a sad mixture of blues and greys awash with silver and white.” / “…she could wrap her hands over Tina’s arms, feeling the softness of her skin in their embrace, the comforting way they didn’t need words to express how they felt about each other, they simply knew.” / “Tina lay with her head against Bette’s chest, the sound of her heartbeat strong and steady beneath her ears, like a train on the right tracks, it’s journey mapped out yet not without risks of bumps along the way.” / “Tina smiled and closed her eyes, feeling the sensation of Bette’s hands as they travelled once again down her body, the soft anticipation as she waited for the incredible initiating touch, each time like the first, tiny jolts of connection and compulsion which swallowed her breath and left her crying out for more, for it to go on forever and never, ever end.” / AND THIS ONE IS MY MOST FAVORITE PARAGRAPH OF ALL: ” Tina smiled into it, Bette’s fingers roaming through her hair as she held her there, their lips speaking without words as they conveyed every feeling, the connection that ran like the greatest river with the two of them to the left and right, two halves of the same whole.” => This is Bette and Tina defined as SOUL MATES. God, I wish I wrote these lines! Shit! I could go on all day gushing about this story. I sooo love the interplay of the landscape of the present with the vivid memories of their shared history; the almost seamless segue from a warm, fuzzy, romantic moment to the tearful, poignant confessions to the wit and humor in their dialogue and the hot, tender but utterly sexy scenes. And the way the 2nd part ended with Tina watching Bette sleep and in the finale, it was Bette watching Tina in slumber. I totally fell in love with Bette and Tina again after reading this story. The last time I gushed this much about a short story fanfic was when Seahurst’s “I See You” was posted in December. It won an award, justifiably so. If this gem of a story fails to snatch an award this winter, this quarter, I myself will make a laurel for you and crown you as the hands down, my freakin’ favorite author this season. BRAVA and MERCI BEAUCOUP, SOFA!!! :>
