    I can’t smile..

    “Uh..” Tina sat up in bed and rubbed a fist against her bleary eyes. She blinked several times before her vision adjusted and when it did, she gazed at the clock on her bedside table and blew out a tired breath. 8:05 AM, she groaned in annoyance. She’d only been asleep for three hours. Three whole hours that she struggled all night to achieve – and it only took a measly call from an obscenely cheerful motel staffer to ruin her hard work. “Are you sure its Alice Pieszecki calling me and not anyone by the name of Bette, Porter, Bette Porter, BP, Elizabeth Porter or the devil incarnate?”

    “I beg your pardon?” The receptionist asked, thrown off by the young woman’s line of questioning. Caught off guard, she looked at the name she had scribbled hurriedly on her notepad and went over it several times before speaking again. “Yes ma’am, I believe she said her name was Alice Pieszecki. You know, just like the actress.” She chuckled nervously, referring to the famous Hollywood vixen that was Lenore Pieszecki. The caller had said the last part when she was having trouble with the spelling of her last name.

    Although this Karla woman sounded certain of herself, Tina was not convinced. She was fooled way too many times yesterday to trust the receptionist now. “What does her voice sound like?”

    “Uh..” Karla paused, struggling to describe the peculiar voice of the person she was conversing with just a minute ago. How will she put this without sounding rude.. hmm.. umm.. “I guess she sounds young..”

    “Like someone stuck in puberty? High-pitched? Kinda helium-filled?”

    “Yes! Exactly.” The older woman smiled. Sounded like a tween, but more.. “Like a cartoon.”

    Tina leaned against the headboard and hugged a pillow close to her chest. That sounded like Alice alright. “Well then, okay, connect her call please.”

    “Right away Miss Kennard.” Karla said before the line went dead. It was silent for a second until..

    “You’re screening your calls?! I can’t believe you put me on hold for more than two minutes! That’s inhumane!” Alice complained right off the bat. “Now that irritating It’s-A-Small-Fucking-World callwait tune is stuck in my head!”

    2. I went back and read JTG chapter 30 – the one with the Ferris wheel and the gift-cookies for Bette’s B’day…including the “Tina’s heart cookie.” Bette promised not to hurt TK’s heart. Don’t you just hate it when someone brings back something you’ve said or done in the past to make a point. :) He-he! Need to fix this…PPS. :)

    4. So good I have to comment twice. :-) I forgot to say earlier that I don’t often get into teenage TiBette stories, but this story is just beyond good. I love all your characters, B and T especially. Your reformed and generous Bette, and your strong, passionate, stubborn Tina – “the immortal weed” – always a pleasure to read your updates. Thank you for taking the time to write and share with us. :-)

    6. Groveling Bette…bring it on Alchemy! Tina deserves major groveling.Alice was hysterical in this chapter! Her snarkiness to Clara…too good!Kareoke…with double dare…classic. Wonderful balence of drama and humor. Once again, you rock!

    7. Thanks for this update Alchemy. I can just imagine Bettes singing. And seems, the we havent reach the peak of the drama for whats to come. I remember the scenes with those effects. But please dont wait till the end to get them back together, pretty pls.

She’s got to earn Tina’s trust again. But Tina does need to know that Bette didn’t cheat on her. Grovelling Bette will be interesting. Thanks for the post, Alchemy.

    14. what can i say… i hate what they are doing… but i have faith it will end soon and be back together… at least i hope tina is willing to start forgiving bette… more ass kissing is called for… for sure… but tina needs to get out of where she is… let bette suffer some more… seeing tina all the tima and net being with her will kill her more..pps

    15. Okay so this dose of drama was definitely better..it’s what they must go through..I appreciatethe lovely balance of humor w/ the drama..and of course I love Sam’s return..the only other one Bette listens to…thank you

    16. Alchemy your mix of humor, drama, and sweetness is incomparable. :-) Bette dug her own hole with Tina, and now she needs to dig herself out. Trust is a fragile thing, and hard to earn back when it’s broken. The singing was priceless, haha! Thank you for this lighter chapter – it’s always a joy to read your writing.

    19. Man, I feel for both Bette and Tina. Tina has been royally wronged, but Bette is trying to make up for past mistakes. If Bette is ever in a position of talking to Tina she needs to come clean with all that she has been doing and why.

    20. That was great, sad to see B&T apart but hope they will talk, work thing out and get back together soon. Alice is crazy but gonna love her. Please post more, thanks!
