Just The Girl 2.0 – Chapter Twenty Four, Part One (based loosely on HYD: Returns)

    But she didn’t.

Cause if you love someone as much as she loved Bette, then that is something you wouldn’t do or ever dream of doing. She couldn’t and wouldn’t inflict pain on the one person she wanted to spare of it. She just couldn’t; even though it was human nature to strike back when you got hurt.

But it wasn’t right. And to do otherwise would be a disservice to the love they both shared and the relationship they had cultivated through the years.

Jill was still going to be a part of their lives. She may not like it, but she had no choice but to accept it. It was the right thing to do.

So she stayed. She gave no verbal answer but she wrapped her arms around her love and held Bette tight. She kissed the side of her head and rubbed soothing circles on her back. She stayed when she could’ve left.

She put up on a brave face, she remained strong and faithful. Her exterior was that of gentle smiles and understanding eyes, but deep inside, she broke down and cried.

And that, she proved to herself that day, was real love.

And she was capable of giving it.

No matter how much it hurt.

Bette Porter was impatience personified. That, she knew was true without a shadow of a doubt. Waiting was never her forte, staying calm in situations that demanded it were rare and unheard of – at least with regards to her. The heiress could never sit idly by, never content with watching life go on around her while she sat still, anticipating something that may or may not come her way. When she wanted something, she needed to have it right away. No questions asked. Years of getting what she wanted when she wanted it got her used to such privileges afforded to someone of her stature.

Waiting killed her; inactivity in the face of the unknown dismantled her very core. It filled her with a barrage of negativity and doubt; and for that, she welcomed her impatience with a passion.
