    CHAPTER TWO: The Itch, The Swelling and The Pain

    THE ITCH.

    Hotel Café, Morning.

    Breakfast Buffet.

    “Babe?”

    “Hm?”

    “Stop scratching..”

    “I can’t, it’s itchy..” Scratch. Scratch.

    “I know it is, but scratching will only make it worse. So stop.. please..”

    Whiiine. “But baby, I don’t think it can possibly get worse than what I’m feeling right now, and doing this..” Scratch. Scratch. Scratch. “..feels so damn good. So I’ll keep scratching if you don’t mind.”

    “Oh I don’t mind..”

    “Thank you.”

    “But I think the other guests in the hotel do.” Looks discretely at the people eating breakfast and whispers. “They’re staring at you..”

    “So? Let them stare Kennard.” Scratch. Scratch. “I own this place, it’s not like they could have me thrown out for making them feel uncomfortable. It’s human nature to scratch an itch. I’m just following what my body wants me to do.” Scratch. Scratch. “And besides, they don’t have a giant rash on their ass. So they could at least be compassionate and allow me to get some relief – by any means I deem necessary, and right now, it involves a lot of this..” Scratch. Scratch. Scratch.

    “Now they’re shooting us dirty looks too..”

    “They are, eh?” Smirks evilly and narrows eyes. “Let’s return the favor shall we? Here..” Flips everyone a finger, eliciting shocked gasps and dropped jaws. “It’s my hotel and I’ll scratch my ass if I want to!”

    “Bette Porter!” Yanks down hand. “I’m sorry ma’am.. really sorry.. she um.. she forgot to take her meds.. oh.. so sorry sir.. I know, she gets loopy in the morning.. really really sorry..” Looks back at the smug girl and glares. “YOU.” Pinch. “Stop acting immature and behave!”

    Angelic smile. “But they’re the ones who started it! It’s not my fault that they’re not very considerate of other people’s pain and suffering..” Scratch. Scratch. “Besides, how come they have the audacity to act appalled when they do this kind of thing themselves?”

    “In private. You’re doing it in public.”

    “So? The point is, we’re all doing it.” Scratch. Scratch.

    Cups forehead in hand and shakes head. “There’s no arguing with you on this one, eh?”

    “Nope.” Scratch. Scratch. Scratch.

    Scratch. Scratch.

    Scratch.

    Pause.

    “What? Why are you looking at me like that?”

    4. Brilliant, as always, Alchemy. Your dialogue and descriptions are so funny. The image of itchy, swollen Bette is just hilarious, especially the breakfast scene. I always look forward to your posts as they brighten any day! Thanks so much for continuing this story.

    5. A hairbrush is a good way to help relieve the itch. Damn jellyfish and other stinging things. I guess that the economic situation is even hitting the fan fiction stories. I love Bette and Tina with their humor along with their love.

    6. Poor Bette, she is too young to be in this economical dilemma. Is it that bad?, is she afraid she has to reduce the number of employees by firing them?, O Alchemy, I’m really hooked up and want to know what will happen :)

    7. Okay… after the fun in the sun with Alice and Shane, and Bette’s… unfortunate (but funny)… bite on her derrière, I’m now worried. Why are the number of employees significant? Is Bette worried about the sheer amount of people she’ll have in her employ? What’s going on with Melvin? What’s happening with PGC? It’s all very ominous, but very gripping. Love the story, thanks Alchemy.

    8. Have I told you I LOVE this story?? Their bantering is so funny & I love both the tenderness & the roughness between them. As you know the “…” are my favorites- they speak volumes..I mean I can SEE the expressions on their faces! And now you leave us hanging tooo…You are SO VERY AWESOME!!
