Just The Girl – Chapter Thirty Five (a HYD-inspired fic)
“Porter..” Tina woke herself from her stupor and went after the brunette.
———————————————–
“What the fuck?” Max exclaimed a little angrily as he saw Bette and Tina walking briskly towards him and Jenny as they stood just by the entrance of the park. “You guys are forty minutes late!” He huffed as a cross-looking Bette walked right past him in a daze. “Hey.. how about a little apology?” He gripped the brunette’s arm tightly and held Bette back. Jenny’s eyes widened in fear as Bette’s eyes narrowed down into slits.
“An apology?” Bette smirked. Coming right up, Lez-boy. She shook herself from Max’s grip and drove her right knee to the guy’s groin. “Whoops.” She smirked as Max fell to the ground, clutching his groin and groaning at the same time. “I’m only sorry I didn’t get to do that sooner.” She scoffed as she continued her journey towards the exit of the park.
“Porter!” Tina shouted as she jumped past Max and ran after her girlfriend. She mouthed an apology to Jenny as she chased after Bette. “Will you please just stop and listen to what I have to say?” She tugged at the back of Bette’s top to slow the girl down.
“Why?” Bette scoffed. “So you could try another pathetic attempt to break up with me?” She laughed bitterly as she inadvertently dragged the blonde along with her.
“You don’t understand you thickheaded dolt!” Tina shouted out in protest. “You didn’t let me finish. I didn’t break up with you! I was merely suggesting it because I–”
“..love you?” Bette finished her sentence as she stopped and tore Tina’s hand away from her shirt. “Don’t fucking kid yourself Kennard.” She laughed mockingly. “What you tried to do back there was not a courageous and selfless act of love.” She jeered. “You tried to take the easy way out. That is so fucking cowardly.” She bit back in anger.
“I am not a coward!” Tina interjected. Just the mere act of suggesting that she let Bette go, killed her inside. It was one of the bravest things she had ever done.
“Do you really love me Kennard?” Bette whispered as she started to question Tina’s feelings for her. Why did it seem so easy for Tina to say those things? “Cause if you really did, then trying to break up with me is quite a cruel way of showing it.” She sighed as she started walking away.

Strike one up for Bette. She is standing up to her father and showing Tina the depth of her feelings at the same time. After growing up with unlimited riches, I think it would be extraordinarily difficult to be left penniless. I hope Bette returns after reading Tina’s letter. Great story!
I’m usually the one sitting or standing in the wrong place, I can relate. Got drenched at Disneyland 3 times in 1 day…
Tina’s dad is funny. Poor Bette and Tina but hope they will fight to be together.
I have been gone all day & am just know getting achance to catch up on my Fav. Fic. This was another awesome update…makes me want to go to Sea World minus the breaking up part. I hope they work things out-w/ a little help from Alice & Shane. I have just 1 request…please no more Max.
First of all LMAO at Daddy Kennard being heartbroken about getting a promotion. Then what the hell is Tina thinking throwing things out there without explaining first…we all know Bette reacts at the first word and doesn’t listen. However, Bette better start listening if she doesn’t want to become just like Melvin…alone and bitter.
first?????? youpiiiiiiiiiiiken is so funny? How did he work out promotion = fired?PMSLNow it s time for he F4 to show their support to their leader, help Bette fae and beat her father on that challenge. Great chapter, very funny with Tina’s dad but sad that Tina and Bette fought. They need each other right now to be strong against Melvin.PPS
