She walked towards the thick oak door and gently knocked on it three times. Upon hearing a loud, stern voice shouting from the inside, she twisted the knob and let herself inside the biggest office in the entire building.
“Good evening sir, I’m here to give the report regarding updates on operations on the west coast.”
“Very well. Put it on my desk.”
“Yes sir.”
“Is there anything else Joyce?”
“Just one more thing Mr. Porter. Sarah from the PR Department wanted me to ask you if you are flying back to Los Angeles next weekend sir..”
“Why? Is there an event scheduled for me there?”
“I believe it is your daughter’s 18th birthday sir.”
“Is it now?”
“Yes sir.”
“I see. But isn’t the meeting with SNX Prime Holdings also scheduled next week?”
“Yes sir. The meeting is scheduled on Saturday. Their CEO is flying to New York from Sydney next Thursday.”
“Then it is settled then.”
“Sir?”
“I won’t be coming home. That deal needs to push through, I’m sure Elizabeth will understand.”
“Yes sir.”
“Joyce..”
“Sir?”
“Just send her a new plaything for me. Maybe one of those classic cars that she likes to restore.”
“Okay, sir.”
“Speaking of my daughter.. what kind of mischief is that girl involved in these past few days? Any settlements that I should be aware of?”
“Well according to my sources, Miss Bette has actually been very well-behaved lately. She has been diligent in attending classes and has been coming home early during school days. I believe she has not been going to bars every night, unlike before.”
“How can that be?”
“She seems to be more than a little invested with a classmate of hers. Hence, the generally good behavior.”
“Who?”
“A certain Christina Kennard, sir.”
“Kennard? Never heard of that name before. Are they new players in the industry?”
“I believe not sir. From what I have gathered, the girl is very poor.”
“Poor?”
“Yes sir.”
“I didn’t know that my daughter is into charity work. Must be one of those passing things.”
“I.. really don’t think so, sir.”
“What?”
“She seems to be pretty serious about the girl.”
“Should I be concerned?”
“I.. I don’t know, sir.”
“Joyce..?”
“Yes sir?”
“Move the SNX meeting to the west coast. I’m flying back to LA after all…”

OH i hope that her dad is not going to cause trouble for her and Tina,wonder what is gonna happen on Bette’s birthday.can’t wait for the next chapter PPS
Wow I like this story so much I’ve read all the chapters straight through today! Why do I have a bad feeling about Bette’s dad coming home and what will Tina give Bette for her b-day?? PPS:)
Jealousy makes for great drama. Unfortunately I forsee greater drama unfolding with Daddy Porter arriving in town.
Wonderful update! Jealousy issue has been dealt with and hopefully put to rest. Dad’s coming to town just as Bette is beginning to pull her life together is an omnious sign though. I wonder what Tina will give her for her birthday???

melvin is going home… hmmm i wonder if he is an asshole like he was on the show… BTW… where is Kit… anyway… i love the way they are becoming friends… bette is cute… she is trying and tina is now also trying… i also like that alice hinted to tina what bette likes… so when does tina get to see where bette lives… now that should be something… PPS
