Bette watched as Tina got out of bed. She unconsciously licked her lips at the sight of her naked back. After all these years, she still couldn’t wrap her mind around just how sexy her wife was. Her wife. She grinned. It just sounded so damn good.

If someone had told me all those years ago that stupid little whiny Kennard would be my wife, I’d have answered I rather died, and now…

“Do you have to go to work?” she asked Tina, who had now disappeared in the bathroom. Bette herself did most of her work from home. They had had a huge fight some years ago about Bette always being in the gallery.

Tina had always understood that it was important to Bette, that it meant a lot to her, but that she wanted to be important to Bette as well. Tina had moved out for a month to make her point and it was the most horrible months of Bette’s life. She had chastised herself over and over again that it had to come to this to make her realise how much she needed Tina around her to function.

“Yes, not all of us are as fortunate as you are.”

“I remember my working at home was your idea?”

Tina appeared in the doorway, smiling like a cat who just got the milk. “I know,” she winked. “I love it. Otherwise, you’d have been in the office by now and I’d have woken up alone. And if it were one of those really bad days, I’d be asleep by the time you came back.”

Bette pouted. “I was trying to make a living for both of us, honey.”

Tina came closer to the bed, grabbed a pillow and swatted Bette with it playfully.

“We both know that isn’t necessary. You just wanted to be a huge success.”

“Because they all threw it at you, because your sexy ass gets everything done.”

They both know Bette was only joking, this was a regular conversation between them.

“For your information, I had to work my ass off to get myself where I now am.”

“Indeed, work your ass off,” Bette winked. “Come here.”

“I really have to go now, Bette…”

“No you don’t. You’re the big boss.”

“You know how I think about that. How can I expect my co-workers to -”

“Be there every day and be there on time when I stay home whenever the hell I feel like it? I know you say that. But puh-lease?” Bette pouted again.

Tina visibly softened and smiled. She lied down and looked Bette in the eyes. Bette’s hand was stroking Tina’s cheek, both were enjoying the moment.

“Babe?”

“Hmm…”

“We’re having a baby.”

Bette’s eyes lit up, her smile could provide an entire city with electricy, surprise was etched on her face. She almost flattened Tina in her hug and almost choked her in her searing kiss.

“Are you sure?”

Tina nodded. “I’m sure.”

“That is great news! How long have you known?”

“I’m sure since yesterday, didn’t want to get your hopes up.”

“Now you have to stay home.”

Bette wouldn’t let Tina go, not today. They had to celebrate this properly.

“Fuck, I think I even love you more now,” Bette whispered.

“Not as much as I love you,” Tina whispered back.
