Lady Slayer
The time at the hospital had been tough, tougher than she could ever have imagined. She hadn’t experienced the whole hospital performance of being given news about a loved one before. When she had learned of her mothers illness it had been from Lily herself, and for some reason being told by someone who cares so deeply for the person in question was profoundly different than the actual hospital experience.
Bette and Lily had shared emotions about her mother, shared questions and concerns, whereas yesterday at the hospital they were sat across from the consultant who used medical terminology, even in simplified terms to be understandable to the layman, it was still a lot to take in.
Well, it was for Bette anyway.
She had wondered what the experience had been like for Tina, to have to go through all of that alone; she couldn’t even bear to think about what she had been going through.
Hopefully this afternoon Tina would open up to her, talk to her, allow her to comfort her and support her, because she was sure that regardless of the fact that she had been given the ‘all clear’, the whole process and experience did not just go away, coupled with a new job, their own budding relationship and Eric turning up…
“Fuck Tina…, why didn’t you talk to me…” Bette muttered into the empty car, as her mind caught up with everything that Tina had been coping with, it was no wonder that she told Bette that she needed some time and space, “and there I was telling her I was in love with her…”
Bette pulled up in front of Lily’s house; she swallowed the lump that instantly appeared in her throat. Yesterday had been one of the most difficult days she could remember in so long.
To leave Lily last night had been heart wrenching, it was so difficult to comprehend that Lily had been given such devastating news and yet she was holding her head high, as she accepted her fate.
It almost felt like these two people in her life had these major things going on their lives, which they did, and she had somehow been left out of the equation, she understood but she didn’t…

Jo, you’re back! YAY! Why is it that there were only two pages to this chapter? =) Are you writing the next already? Or are you re-watching episode 6 for inspiration? LOL
Thanks so much for posting,Hate to make the longbut hope you are writing as I type thanks.
Great update…short update!..lol..I think we all need “a Lily” in our lives at some stage..understanding but unintrusive, yet always a presence..what a lovely lady!…looking forward to the weekend then! cos you promised the next chapter…lol
We missed this story very much, that was a great chapter dear please continue and don’t leave us hanging for too long.Thank you
I just love Lily! I agree with B, that everyone needs a Lily in their life. I’m glad I have a couple of beautiful flowers that accompany my life. This story only gets better, and to be a little selfish, I am GLAD you will have more time to write this weekend. We will get more of this story, and I would never mind another Levi Tina situation either!!!! Thanks Jo! :- )
Love this story. Its really heavy though.. the whole cancer storyline is tough to read. I’m glad that Lily is continuing to push Bette towards Tina. Those two kids need to work their shit out. They were having so much fun when they first met.
“so good to see a healthy flow of stories.” Glad to see you in the river too. ;-)
Bette’s seeming needy just now, I don’t know if she has it in her to give Tina time or space. I hope she heeds Lily’s advice. thanks for the post.
Yeah, you’re gone for so long…too long! But just glad that you posted an update. Looking forward to B & T talk at the beach eh.
So glad you’re back. Love this story and looking forward to more.
I am so heartbroken for Bette that she is going to lose her Lily after losing her Mom. I hope that Tina can get past all her recent difficulties with Eric and the cancer scare and let Bette in to help her deal with all the aftermath.
What an emotional chapter, Jo! Unfortunately, cancer always drains people’s strength and spirit. Thanks for the update. We hope that perhaps, as a Valentine’s present for us, your faithful readers, could you post soon?*wink* Hugs.- Lucero & Marsha – Your loyal fans from Mexico City
Thanks to Lily for keeping Bette stable. I am sad that Lily will not be around much longer. It is through Lily that Bette has become the woman she is today. What love Bette has learned has come from Lily.
Hello Jo, Brilliant to have you back posting this wonderful tale. I just love how you capture the intensity of the emotions being played out. Bette is split in two right now. She wants to be there and be strong for Lily yet she wants to run away to find and comfort Tina. Now Tina and Bette need to sort through the revelations of the last few days. They do belong together. Just make it so. Thank you for this magnificent melodrama. You make me happy and sad; angry and relieved. Jo, you have the gift of making your reader feel the reality of each situation. My gratitude for all that you craft. Your Loyal Fan.
That was good!
