***Latin Business… or something else??*** –Chapter15

In  her kitchen, Tina was analyzing the last 5 minutes events. Then, it became so clear. ‘How could I be so Stupid?!’ she said to herself ‘I have to find her!’ with that mission, she took her car keys, wallet and cellphone and took off downstairs, hoping Bette was still around the neighborhood. In the kitchen table was left the amazing breakfast they both were sharing minutes ago

    Mere minutes earlier…

Bette walked 1 block away as fast as she could. Fortunately for her, she saw a taxi dropping someone 15 feet away from her. She waved the taxi and ran to get in. She was giving the driver directions for where to go. As she looked back, she saw Tina, who had walked out of the apartment complex looking for any sight of Bette. And when she saw to her right, she saw Bette in the taxi, she waved and started walking to the car, but Bette, startling the driver, she yelled at him: ‘Now, Sr.!’ Forcing him to speed off, leaving a mark on the pavement and an ear-piercing sound. Tina stopped at the annoying sound dead in her tracks. Without wasting any second, she ran back to the parking lot. Tina opened the door and got in the car. There, in the passenger’s seat, was the empty bottle. ‘Fuck!’ She yelled, smacking the steering wheel. She took off as fast as she could. But the taxi had already turned  at the nearest corner and was out of sight.

“Damn, Bette. Where did you go?” she said to hreself, after calming herself down a little. She retreived Bette’s business car from her wallet and dialed her cellphone, right to voicemail- Bette’s phone had no battery left. She tried again and again, unsuccessfully. Later, she tried her house’s numbre, but only got the answering machine. She sighed in exasperation. How could she think that Bette would take advantage of her drunkness? The more she thought, the angrier  she got with herself. Thoughts running through her head: what if she never saw Bette again? Bette had been nothing but attentive, loving, understanding, gentle, tender as anyone had ever been with her – not even Eric- and there she was, thinking all sort of things about poor Bette. And then, Tina knew, she knew exactly what she had to do. She had to find Bette and tell her that she was sorry and that she wanted to date her. Her mind was set and nothing would stop her…
