Let It Happen – Chapter III
———–
The next day, Tina woke to the welcome aroma of freshly ground coffee, and spied a glass of water and two tablets of pain-killers on the table next to her.
She smiled inwardly, took a drink of the water, and swallowed the tablets. She drained the rest of the water, set the glass down, and padded out to the living room, after quickly washing up, and pulling on a shirt from Bette’s closet.
She saw Bette tapping on her laptop, back rested against one arm of the comfortable sofa.
Tina quietly walked over to her, not wanting to interrupt the brunette’s concentration. When Bette looked up as Tina approached, she greeted the blonde with a warm smile. Surprised, Tina said the first thing that came to her mind, ”You’ve been so kind to me Bette. I’m really grateful.”
”Hi, there. No..no..no…don’t worry about it,” Bette responded, smiling and shaking her head from side to side.
”I’m serious, I’ll never forget it; never forget how you’re helping me with all this now.”
”Well… look Tina, in all honesty, it’s just paying you back for your own kindness to me last fall. Do you remember?
Tina, frowned, her eyebrows knitted together as she struggled to call up a memory. Then it came to her.
”Wait a minute, that lady in Paris? That was you?”
Bette nodded, and said ruefully, ”Yeah, me,” pointing to herself.
Tina shook her head with a small smile. ”I knew I’d seen you before. When I saw you earlier in the night last night, I couldn’t shake the feeling I’d met you somewhere…. But I was sure I would not have forgotten meeting the famous Bette Porter though, or so I told myself last night. I was convinced that I was mistaking you for someone else.”
Bette shook her head, and smiled, as if to deny her reputation.
Tina smiled back at her, and said in a teasing tone, ”Why do you smile? Isn’t that what people say? All night last night, I heard people repeating some lady’s line that you’re some kind of seductress, or something. Even Eric said you were dangerous…. There are probably other words having to do with how sexy people say you are… let me see…(Tina tapped her fingers playfully on her lips) …Crush-able? Kiss-able?”

Dear author, discovering this story of yours last night was truly a gift,
Savouring everything, from the remembering of this magical city of Paris – that is so deeply a part of my soul and heart since always – to this so tender, delicate depiction of our dearest two’s growing attraction I truly love in this story, gives such a comfort to me at a very right moment…
And, finally, these two quotes, in this chapter, brang at the same time smile on my face and tears in my eyes, because something deeply personal resounds in me – bitter sweet memories always present :
“there was something much more intimate and magical in their relationship than undeniable physical attraction (…) She later understood that no matter what would happen later in life between the two of them, Bette would never be able to forget her. This was going to be a relationship that she would not be able to walk away from without being shattered.”
Thank you so much for sharing this true endearing and delicate writing talent with us – I mean it.

Each, in their own way, will find ways to overlook undesirable things in the other even as they each continue to fall in love with this evolving, changing person they found in “Let It Happen.” Both will continue to change, and will never be the same from book to book in this series.
I hope you’ll get to read the other books — then I hope you let me know what you think.
Take good care,
