Let It Happen – Chapter XVIII
As Bette headed toward the statue, Tina hurriedly arranged for the additional stops the car service would make, including one to the florist with whom she had contracted to work on the movie that she was producing two years ago. On a separate call to the florist she asked for a series of things to be packaged, including a large bouquet that the car service would be coming by to pick up.
Unbeknownst to Tina, Bette had also arranged a surprise for the blonde an hour earlier, when the blonde had gone to the rest room. But Bette hadn’t as yet gotten confirmation about whether or not her surprise would be there by the time they returned to the room. She spied Tina walking towards her, and was thinking quickly about what to do to distract the blonde, while she waited for the call that would tell her whether or not her surprise had been delivered.
Hmmm… a quick dinner, maybe?
As Tina drew near, Bette asked, “How about getting a bite to eat?”
Tina exclaimed, “Oh, I’m sorry, Bette, I had asked my hotel to arrange for some food to be brought to us along with my stuff. They have a very good in-house restaurant, and I’d asked the chef there to send a batch of the “Tina special.”
Bette laughed, “Okay, I’ll bite. What’s the “Tina special?”
Tina smirked, “It’s a surprise, and I don’t want to ruin it!, “ she said, as she spied a quick text from the florist indicating her package was ready for pick up. She was smiling broadly as she looked up again at Bette, “And hope you’ll like it!”
Bette smiled, “Hmmmm… is it street- legal?”
Tina laughed, then answered in a teasing voice, “In some parts of the world.” She winked suggestively at Bette.
Bette raised her eyebrows at the tease, and tried to probe again, “But not in others?”
“How about you tell me where, when you see it?” Tina responded, then added without thinking,” You’re the one who’s been jetting all over creation, right?”
“Oohhhh, I did not see that coming,” Bette feigned being hit, but was smiling. Tina rubbed Bette’s arms apologetically, murmuring she didn’t mean for the comment to come out that way.
