Let It Happen – Chapter XVIII
Tina smiled warmly at him, “You’re right! Thank you so much for thinking about that.” Just as they were talking about this, the door chimes rang. “Room service!” a male voice called out. Tina and the driver looked at each other and shared a laugh.
The driver turned to leave, “If there isn’t anything else? (He paused.)” Tina shook her head. “Then I see you tomorrow,” he said as he smiled then turned to leave.
He opened the door, and let the waiter in, who was wheeling in a champagne bucket with ice, a tray of plates, and flatware.
Tina showed him where she wanted to set things up, then asked him to start. “I need to prepare things in the, um, bedroom.” He smiled, and bowed slightly.
Tina hurried into the bedroom as he set about his tasks.
The blonde knocked on the bathroom door, and opened it slightly. “Baby, if you don’t mind, “she called out to Bette, “can you please stay in the bathroom while I finish up out here? I’ll come get you when I’m ready, ok?”
Bette responded with a slight shout over the sound of the shower, “What?!”
“Please, baby?,” Tina asked again.
“Okay, T!” Bette shouted over the shower.
What is she up to?
Tina closed the bedroom door, then hurriedly opened one of the bags from the florist. Inside were candles of varying sizes, scented with ylang-ylang and sandalwood. She arranged the candles around the bedroom, and lit the bigger, pillar-type ones.
Then she opened the second bag, which was filled with two bouquets of various flowers, each of which had individual scrolls tied around them, secured by thin ribbons matching the colors of each particular bouquet.
Next she opened a third bag, which was filled with red rose petals. She scattered the rose petals around the side of the bed, then fashioned a large heart shape on the bed, out of some of the rose petals.
She picked up the two bouquets, then continued scattering rose petals in her wake as she backed out of the room.
She shook out the rest of the rose petals in the bag by the entrance to the bedroom, then shut the door.
Tina’s breath caught as she turned around to survey the living room. The waiter had done a masterful job setting up the room, more than what she had envisioned or expected. He explained that he had noted the types of flowers in the huge bouquet the florist had sent, which would serve as a centerpiece for the room, then had gone out to obtain similar types of flowers from arrangements outside in the hallways. He had consulted with the front desk about the flowers, and learned that they were going to be changed at some point early the next morning, anyway. So he’d asked if he could supplement the large bouquet Tina had brought in. They readily agreed, the waiter said.
