Chapter 11- or, Fripster can’t turn off her brain. Or get Danish out of it.
The crowd was still milling about excitedly after the show; completely unaware of the drama unfolding backstage. Shane happened to be glancing at the stage when she saw the A-Okays’ manager, Ryan, slip out from behind the curtain. His face was drawn with anxiety as he jumped from the platform and made a beeline for the phone at the bar. Shane nudged Helena, who looked over and took in the scene. Something about his frenzied gestures and the panic-stricken expression on his face convinced her that something had happened to Alice.
Standing, Helena said stiffly, "Wait here. I’m going to find out what’s happened."
Bette looked up in surprise at the tension in Helena’s voice. She hadn’t seen Ryan’s hasty retreat from the stage and had missed the undercurrent of apprehension in Shane’s gaze.
Without another word, Helena moved to the bar. Shane and Bette couldn’t see her face as she and Ryan spoke but soon enough she had turned toward them and approached at a near jog. Her face was tight with nerves and Shane watched as Ryan made his way backstage again.
Helena grabbed Bette’s arm and said in a tone that dripped worry, "Alice has collapsed. They’ve called the paramedics."
Shane stood up abrupty, knocking her drink over. It spilled unnoticed onto the table, drenching Helena’s purse and Bette’s. The Brit said as calmly as she could, "Shane, go and call Alice’s mum. They’ll take her to St. Michael’s. It’s closest. Take Bette with you. I’m going to ride with Alice."
Bette looked as if she wanted to protest but observing the flinty look Helena gave her she rose to follow Shane. Turning back to Helena, she said softly, "I’ll see you at the hospital."
Helena nodded and then made her way backstage.

Jude and Ryan were hovering over a prostrate, unconscious Alice. Both men were looking entirely out of their element and moved back to allow Helena room as she came flying into the green room.
Dylan was seated on the couch, running his hand through his hair wretchedly and watching Alice like a protective brother.
Helena knelt beside Alice, running a gentle hand over her flushed, damp forehead and saying gently, "Oh, Alice. What’s happened to you?"

OMG you had me laughing at the end with Al’s words frip…Don’t know how you managed to write so much in such a shirt period of time and then for me to read them is amazing. I liked how you had the whole scenario of how one has to wait for anykind of news of a loved one. Thanks frip loved it
Seriously…GO TO BED!!! Lol. I love this more than ever, but you’ll kill yourself posting at this rate. And give us some time to process! Haha, I’m kidding, if you’re this into it you may as well let it all out. I was that way too, still am mind you, I just can’t get myself to write so much so quickly. I’m a perfectionist who feels compelled to mull over every chapter I post. I’m glad Al’s okay and that Lenore is appearing to be nice. Okay I still need a little time to get this into my head, but it’s great. Oh, and I’m from the lovely corn-filled state of Illinois. Yay me. Except not really, lol.
fripster, I just post the comment to your last post. And here you are with another post. I was right, you are on “ludicrous speed.” You are killing me. Now I shall read this post.
I barely finished 6 chapters of Goldrun15’s “Crossroads” and you posted chap 9. With the speed you are writing, I will not get to Tiff_Duke for a while. Church lady, you had me laughing. Pick another frame, it will save your eyeballs. Take my word, my eyes are degenerating because of all the abuse during my crazy partying years. I too tend not to read anything other than Danish. A little bit of the others are ok, just like the way you have written. As for this chapter, love the drama and it read like a thriller. I could not wait to find out what would happen next. It just proves to me once again why I like this story so much. “Bette was occupying herself by reading instructions to the Heimlich maneuver”, too much. fripster, I could not stop laughing after the 2 last sentences, “What the fuck? Am I dead?” Where do you come up will all these unbelievable ideas & lines? I felt like doing a Wayne & Garth ‘s “I am not worthy” bow. Just tell me that you are not going to make Dana sick too with her scratchy throat? Then again, we might need the drama. And thank you for waking A up before the end of the chapter. Thank you again. btw, I second MT’s comment above which was a laugh and a half too. p.s. See it took me like an hour to read and comment a chapter meaning I am slow.
Wow! I had to catch with the last 2 chapters because I was at work, but what can I say? I love Alice’s last words, but of course, we know she’s not dead. (She better not be!) I love how Dana is so devoted to Alice. She drove back just to see her girlfriend. I love the part with Lenore and Dana, which was really bittersweet. I also loved Alice’s last word from chapter 10. The Six Million Dollar Man?? lol Will Dana be upset with Alice for not staying at home, and will she be more upset when she found out what kind of pills that she took? Well I guess I won’t find out until the new chapter!!! You’re a great writer and I wanted to tell you that myself. You make me want more and more with your story!!! Keep it up and PPS!
Hee! I have my own theme song! ;-D You are incredible. Not only do you post another great chapter but your author’s notes are almost as entertaining. So glad Alice is OK and it appears this incident will not impact her rock star aspirations. I also like how you wrote Lenore — I think she does have some good mother in her. And I gotta know — was it Lee Major’s plane that she used? I also loved how you wrote Helena in this one — so strong but also so fragile. And Dana rushing back to be with Alice was wonderful. Your chapters are always so rich in detail, too. Like how you descibed Alice’s blanket at the hosptal. It’s subtle, but, just shows what a strong writer you are. I could go on but I want to get these comments done before you post another chapter… ;-D I forgot to mention in my comments that I loved you using “cogitate” in one of your summaries. That is one of my favorite words and I think it needs to be used more in conversation.
I love Alice! You have wrote the very soul of what she would be like. And the dedication amongst that group of friends is excellent. You’ve even made her mother seem real but I never doubted that she loved her child. She just has a problem she needs some help with. Great update!!

i like fripsterbot. through all of your posts today i had so many things to say and now i can’t remember them. i do remember something about a fanny pack, and i agree – they are hideous and useful at the same time. this was an awesome chapter. i love what alice says at the end of the chapter. bette and helena are cute together. though i could never picture it on the show – you make it work. i love helena. and i love how you seem to have a character on all of the characters, not just danish. so we agree… three more posts tomorrow? ok sounds good. kidding, kidding. get some sleep or a life or something, bot! again kidding cause then that would mean i need to get one as well and we can’t have that happening. ok good night, good weekend, cheers!
okay quick comment here, I’m late as usual for sure, my professor has dragged me into an effing contest without briefing me and my teammates saying it’s a boring two-day seminar. Anyway, I was hoping you’d post so I’d feel better about my day and yay! lucky me, you did. what the fuck am I dead? hahah Alice is just great, and I’m glad that Lenore’s finally being a good mother. Dana coming home at the wee hours of the am is really sweet, just to see Alice. And who would’ve guessed that the first person to hear her say she loved Al was Lenore? all in all this is an awesome chapter. Loved it again. thanks for the update!!!x0x
