    Bette and Tinas marriage disintegrates in front of their fifteen year old daughter.

    Career Day, West park Elementary, Miss Hunters class, 2013

    Joss was standing in front of her 3rd grade class. Bette was sitting in a chair next to her daughter. Joss was holding a sheet of paper.

    This is my mommy. She owns her own gallery. The gallerys name is the Bette Porter Gallery. Its called the Bette Porter Gallery because thats my mommys name. She gets to go to different places and meet people because she gets to buy art. My mommy knows everything about art. When I grow up I want to be just like her and have my own gallery. Except for I wont name it the Bette Porter Gallery because thats not my name. Ill name it the Joss Kenter Gallery. The End, Joss read.

    Joss that was very good, Miss Hunter said.

    Thank you Miss Hunter. Joss replied.

    Does anyone have any questions for Josss mom Mrs. Porter? Miss Hunter asked.

    Several hands shot up into the air. Joss watched as her mother answered questions and charmed Miss Hunter, her classmates, and their parents. Joss studied her mother because one day she was going to be just like her.

    Present Day

    Two years ago on the week of my 13th birthday I spent a few days with my moms parents in North Carolina. I didnt think I would like it because I was use to the fast paced life I lived in California. Soon enough I fell in love with the small town my grandparents lived in. They gave me an early birthday present a camera the kind that you have to develop the pictures yourself. When I talked to my parents I told my mother about the camera. When I got home the day of my birthday my mother had managed to have a small dark room built for me in the back yard. She understood my love of art. She can be hard on me but I know that she loves me. Shes done a lot to encourage my creativity.

    I had just developed photographs I had taken at pride about a month ago. I love going to pride my parents have been taking me ever since I was a baby. I walked into the kitchen with the newly dry photographs. I placed them on the table and grabbed myself a bottle of juice and sat down at the table and began to shift through them I took a sip of my juice. My mother walked into the kitchen casually dressed. It always threw me off to see her not wearing a suit. The image of my mother going off every morning dressed to impress was a sight I was use to seeing. It wasnt always suit but it was just perfect designer clothing. She smiled at me and sat down across from me as she began to look through my photographs with me.
