“Now for the good stuff. Ms. Kennard from this day forward Jess will be legally yours in every aspect and should be as your natural born child.” She said. Everyone took in a deep breath. Tina wiped the tears from her face.
“Yes your honor.” Tina said.
The Grace Academy
Jess and Kelly sat in the back of the classroom giggling and talking amongst themselves. They both had on Raven Championship T-shirts, and shorts.
“Okay class It’s time for everyone to read their essays about their plans for summer vacation.” Ms James said. Kelly read hers first. Then rest of the class went. Jess was last. She stood in front of the class and began to read.
“This summer my mom’s and I are going to travel. We are leaving today for South Carolina to visit my Nana and Papa. They live in Little River. Which is near the beach. Their house is over a 100 yrs old. My Papa is going to teach me how to play golf. Then we are going to go to Philadelphia to visit my granddaddy. After we go to Philadelphia I am going to go to London with my Aunts Kate and Alyssa to visit my Grandmother. After we two weeks in London. I am coming home. When I get home I have practice everyday. Those are my summer plans”
Jess sat down and the bell rang. All the students cheered and hurried out of the school.
Airplane
“Moma can my ears hurt again.” Jess said rubbing her ears.
“Here baby.” Tina handed Jess a piece of gum. Bette sat down.
“Tina what’s wrong?” Bette said putting her hand on Tina’s.
“Just nerves I guess.” Tina said.
“What do you mean?” Jess asked looking up from the Game Boy.
“You guys have never meet the rest of my family.” Tina said.
“We did. We meet Nana and Papa, and Uncle Chris the last time we were here.” Jess said.
“Well that’s not all my family.” Tina said
“We are going to meet the rest of them this weekend.” Bette said.
“Who all is gonna be there?” Jess asked.
“My sister Hannah, her husband Dave, their 2 kids Jimmy and Piper. Chris and his boyfriend Cory are flying in on Monday. My Aunt Winne and all my cousins on my Dad’s side will be their Sunday.”

Jess is so cute. Love how she calls Tina, Moma. I’m sure Bette is waiting to see if her picky eater of a daughter is going to like the grits before she tries them. LOL. I, myself, have never had grits…so I’m waiting to see if she likes them too. ;-)

Cute story, and what a houseful! [ ‘Grits’ = hot cereal made from ground corn. *Packaged grits are made from hulled corn which is why they’re white, not yellow. ]
Grits……somehow I can’t imagine Bette eating them, but if you call them POLENTA, well that’s another story LOL!!! good story.

Being from WV I should know what grits are made of, but I don’t remember. LOL Only tried them once and they were the instant kind. Bleh. I’ll have to ask my grandma to make some one of these days.
