    Life Without Jenny (chapter 14)

“Max, be careful!” Nikki cried desperately.

“Max watch it!” Shane cried jumping in and helping him with the struggle. It was Bette who finally took the knife as Shane pushed Dylan to the floor. Tasha was immediately on top of her, pinning her down to the floor and handcuffing her.

“Why did you do it, Dylan?” I cried, not wanting to believe the harsh reality.

“I didn’t hit her hard enough to kill her!” Dylan cried.

“You certainly did not,” a foreign voice said.

“Captain,” Tasha said respectfully saluting her.

    “You believe me?” Dylan whimpered.

“Her body was already weak,” the detective said, “Dylan, the worst punishment you’ll get is a manslaughter conviction, but the real murderer is the person who overdosed her with GHB.”

“Someone roofied Jenny?” Shane said in surprise.

“Then that means…” Bette trailed off.

“That every single one of you with the exception of Ms. Stevens and Sergeant Williams-who was in my class- is once again a suspect in that girl’s murder,” the detective said, “I will find out whoever made the drinks at that party and I will make sure they receive their punishment.”

“But GHB is only supposed to put someone to sleep not completely shut down their defenses,” Dylan said, “my hit shouldn’t have killed her!”

“Our scientists say that the hit must have slipped her into a coma, but when she was pushed into the water she drowned,” the detective said, “I assume you’re the one who pushed her into the pool correct?”

Dylan looked up at Nikki and started sobbing and everyone knew instantly who had really done the deed, but before the detective could notice, Dylan said, “yes, I did it.”

“Ms. Porter,” the detective said, “do you know who made the drinks that night?”

“No,” Bette answered quickly, barely letting her finish the question. The detective cocked an eyebrow at her before lifting Dylan to her feet.

“Bring to the station Sergeant,” the detective said.

“Yes, Captain,” Tasha said grabbing Dylan and leading her out.

“We’re gonna be with her,” Max said grabbing Nikki’s arm and following them out.

I vaguely heard Nikki talking about a very good lawyer she had but my attention had shifted elsewhere to Dusty. She had regained her bearings and moved over next to me. I couldn’t help but jump into her lap and hug her tightly. I would have never let go but I did when all of the sudden Bette broke into sobs and crouched down.

    1. Bette why did you have to be so stupid now Tina and Angelica could be left without a partner and a mother. Hopefully Bette will be ok. As for Dylan I wonder is Helena will ever speak to her again of the horrific scene of the knife incident. That was indeed some twist

    2. Mercy not Bette, don’t let her die. I can’t believe Kit drugged jenny. We should have added you to the writing staff of the show. Very good chapter. Thanks.
