Like you! Chapter 7

Previously:

Ten minutes had passed and Bette couldn’t catch sleep. She kept thinking about Tina saying she had never stopped loving her. Maybe there is a chance for us, she thought. Please let there be a chance she silently begged. Meanwhile Tina was tossing and turning. Like Bette she couldn’t catch her sleep. She got up and walked quietly back into the living room. As she approached Bette she could see she wasn’t sleeping. Bette sat up when she saw Tina coming to her. She asked: “T, is everything ok?” “No!” Tina answered quietly. “What’s wrong?” Bette asked concerned. “I can’t sleep.” “Neither can I!” Bette said. “Babe, can you come to bed with me? To hold me?” Bette didn’t answer Tina; she just got up, grabbed Tina’s hand and walked into Tina’s bedroom. They got under the covers, snuggling close to each other, just holding each other. As Tina was falling asleep Bette asked: “T, would it be ok if we talk tomorrow? Really talk tomorrow?” “I would love that babe! But just hold me tonight!” Bette did as Tina asked and held her through the night.

The sun was streaming through the curtains of Tina’s bedroom. Bette started to wake up. She had to take in her surroundings to know where she was. When she realised she was in bed with Tina, she smiled. She was really happy they were together and that they were going to talk. She hoped Tina could forgive her and trust her again. Bette turned on to her side and took in her Tina.

She looks like an angel, Bette thought. So sweet and innocent. A strand of hair was covering Tina’s face. Bette slowly put it behind Tina’s ear. Tina stirred, but didn’t wake up. Bette took in Tina’s body.

She looks really amazing in this stage of pregnancy Bette thought again. She slowly put her hand on Tina’s belly trying not to wake up Tina. As she was lying there she suddenly felt the baby kick.

“Did you feel that?” Tina asked. Bette quickly pulled her hand back slightly embarrassed that Tina had caught her. Tina smiled at Bette. “Yeah I felt it.” Bette said still slightly embarrassed. Tina took Bette’s hand and put it back on her belly. “It’s ok Bette, she’s your daughter too!” Bette smiled at this. “Our daughter!” she said. “Yeah, our daughter!” Tina said. Tina also turned on her side as good as she could and stared intently in Bette’s eyes. Bette stared back at her. It was in this moment that they realised they still loved each other; that Bette still had Tina’s heart and that Tina still had Bette’s heart. Tina wanted this moment to last! It was as if nothing had ever happened. She slowly leaned in to Bette. Their lips were almost touching as Bette whispered: “You sure?” Tina just nodded her head and put her lips against Bette’s. The kiss started out slow at first but got more passionate. It was only when they needed air that they broke apart. Bette pulled back from Tina and said: “I better get up and take a shower.” Tina felt rejected. Bette noticed that Tina’s facial expression had changed. “Look Tina, if we keep that up, we might do something we’re going to regret! We really need to talk first!” Tina thought for a second: Bette’s probably right! We should talk first. Tina felt silly for feeling rejected. Bette smiled at her and said: “It’s ok T, don’t worry! Now I’m going to take a shower, then make us some breakfast and then we can talk. What do you say?” “I’m starving!” Bette and Tina laughed. Tina leaned in again and kissed Bette softly on the lips. It was a kiss that reassured Bette that everything was going to be ok.
