Long Way Home 15 (TLW/BG x-over)
”It was a misunderstanding.” Bette cleared her throat. “I’d gotten a call and didn’t realize that it was Denny.”
“Who did you think it was?” Tina asked.
Ignoring the question, Bette continued, “anyway, I suppose I made an offhand remark and Denny got a bit agitated. She started calling names and they made her get off the phone.”
“What sort of names?” Nikki shrugged.
At this, Tina gave Nikki a smile. It was rare that she’d see Bette so flustered, and there was something about Bette’s discomfort that she found amusing.
Helen, however, wasn’t so quick to make sport of the situation. “What, exactly transpired?”
Bette took a sip of her coffee and cleared her throat, ignoring the expectant looks around the table. “I received a call, and I thought it was Helen.” As she was telling this portion of the story, Bette tried to ignore Nikki’s smirk, especially as she was uncertain exactly what this woman could offer the situation. “I thought,” she continued, “you were asking about the meeting with grad students. I replied that it’d been cancelled.”
“But it was Denny.” Helen picked up on the rest of the thought.
“Correct. And she thought I meant the exhibit.”
“So, what did she call you?” The question seemed less innocuous coming from Helen.
Before answering, Bette gave Tina a look, and the blonde woman covered their daughter’s ears. “Posh twat.”
While Helen’s look stayed one of concern, Nikki went from sputtering, trying to hold in the laugh, to breaking out in a loud chortle in a matter of seconds.
Rather than join in the laughter, something that was clearly making Bette fume, Tina busied herself trying to settle Angelica. The girl didn’t like being excluded from the adult interaction, even when the interaction concerned things that were not appropriate. Tina pulled a toy from the necessary bag and worked on distraction, which was going pretty well.
“For Den, that’s pretty tame.” Nikki shrugged. “She had variations on that that were part of everyday speech.”
“True,” Helen agreed.
“Lovely, so what can we do?”
“I think we’ll be able to get Denny back on board.” Helen started. “The problem might be how upset Denny got, and whether or not that led to any punitive action against her.”

Angelica the wise… ; ) Looking forward to more.
Out of the mouth of babes. This smell so fishie to me. ……………………………….Is Nikki and Helen trying to get to Bette? Please post soon
Man, that Angelica sure can be a wet blanket. Geez, pseud, it had been so long that I forgot about the brief conversation with Denny (and obviously that Denny was the artist). We can only hope that if ‘posh twat’ is a mild epithet for Denny she didn’t go off to such a degree that the service squashes the project or got herself put in solitary for too long. As you simply must let us know what happens next, I will continue to ignore your ?.
This is great and love Angie. Please post more, thanks!
great update pseud please continue
This is a great story to read, love the bantering between all of them, lets hope they can do the video feed to Denny, really enjoying this cross-over story.
Ah, the posh… one… continues to come up against obstacles at every turn. Or does she? Tina’s solved at least one of Bette’s problems anyway. Hopefully Bette’s not so obtuse as to not ask for her help with other things… since she’s obviously floundering. Nice update, pseud. Thanks
ill just say the not swearing in front of the kids, is posh twat!!!! ;)lol i was a prolific swearer in front of my kids, and not a one of them swears, funny, huh?? i mean that might not be the norm, but its what happened with my kids. but it does look good in public if your covering your kids ears when ‘adults’ are in conversation. bad girls is on logo, i really need to watch it. thx and no more ??? please
