“Desiree!”

“What?  She not’s pussy whipped?”

“Shut up.  I gotta go so I can call her. I can’t wait to speak to her.” 

“You two are still check in with each other huh?”  Desiree said remembering how nauseating the two were in high school.  At first she was jealous of Tina, but now she sees that Tina makes a much better partner for Bette.

“I don’t see it as checking in.  We just love talking to each other.  I won’t lie and say the distance is easy though.  I mean when she was a few hours away, either of us could sneak away if only for a day.”  Tina responded with a dreamy quality to her voice.

“Ok missy, I’ll let you go before you go all sappy on me.  Tell that superstar girlfriend of yours that I said good game.  If she keeps playing like that, they’ll make the playoffs for sure.”

“I will relay the message. And don’t be a stranger Desi, I love you like a sister and I miss you.”

“Aww I love you too TK.  I promise I will not be a stranger.”

As if on cue Bette calls Tina as she is hanging up from her conversation with Desiree.

“Hello babe.”

“Hey T. Boy, it’s good to hear your voice.”  Bette said.

“I saw your game B.  You had a great game.  How does it feel now that the first game of the season is out of the way?”

“It feels great T.  I was a little nervous when I first came out to the crowd, but the butterflies settled once I got my first shot as always.”

“I wish I could have seen it in person.  Hey guess who sends their love?”

“Who?”

“Desi.  I was just on the phone with her when you called.  She said to tell you that you did your thing, and if you keep it up, you guys will make the play-offs for sure.”

“Wow, no pressure though huh?  I’m glad you guys spoke.  So is she still with that new girlfriend?”

“Yes she is.  Her name is Courtney and apparently she is fan of yours too.”

“Really?”

“Yea and Desi even told her that you guys dated.”

“Why would she do that?”

“I don’t know, but she says Courtney was cool with it.”

“Well, it’s ancient history.  So how are you boo?”

“I’m good B.  I miss you.”

“I miss you too.  Hey did you look at my schedule?  We will be in California in a few weeks.  We have two games against the Sparks.  I could get you a couple of tickets if you think you can make the game.”

“Baby I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

“Good.  T, I have to go and take a shower.”

“You haven’t showered yet?  What have you been doing since the end of the game?”  Tina asked confused.

“I was talking to the media.  Madison Square Garden has a radio station and they wanted to chat.”

“Ok superstar.  I guess I have to get used to charing you with your adoring public again.  Just like in high school.”

“Tina please.  You don’t share me with anyone.  I am yours wholly and completely.  And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“Good answer B.  I’ll let you go get washed up.  Call me later ok?”

“I sure will.  I love you T.”
