LOVE AND PRIDE – Chapter 75

Bette looked across to the passenger seat of the car and smiled at her lover. Only Tina could come up with the great idea of a picnic after the week they had all had. Lara and Dana weren’t talking and the brunette had gone off to play tennis in Birmingham, Shane had found out she had failed an important paper, Helena was still suffering the fall out from the fiasco with the picnic tables and had been formally warned about her conduct by the college Dean, the stress of the sheer amount of work was beginning to catch up on Alice who had finally admitted to the whole gang that she was in danger of failing her classes before the exams started. Bette was nursing a sore ankle after a fall when she had been running that looked like putting her out of the first track meeting of the season – something that she was very fed up about.

Only Tina had done well that week – one of her mid term papers had been nominated for a special prize awarded by the Head of Law. It was Tina who had talked sense into Alice – sitting her down over a coffee and gradually getting the dizzy blonde to talk about her problems. And Tina had treated Helena as if there had been no argument. Bette had been angry and demanded her sister apologise to Tina but the blonde shrugged it off saying that she’d wasn’t going to lose sleep over something as irrelevant as that. Bette’s devotion increased by the hour almost – she saw Tina as the calm and easy going fulcrum of the gang.

So it had been Tina who had told Helena, Shane, Alice and Lara that they were all coming on a picnic at the weekend. Which was why they were heading to the coast for some sun and laughter before the pressures of essays and revision became too weighty.

Bette parked beside some trees and got out. As she was getting a freezer bag full of food out of the boot of the car Helena’s car pulled up and Shane, Lara and Alice all got out. Everyone had brought food or drink, Shane had bought a baseball bat and a couple of balls plus a soccer ball.

    1. Hello Ally, Great to see the gals having some down time together. I love these special moments; there are just little scenes in a lopng life but ones that are important. They show how friendship works and how much it means to all the gang. The dialogue was wondrous. It flowed alonged and carried along this beautiful chapter. Shame that Bette was so envious of Helena at first and that Helena is now enivous of Bette and Tina’s relationship. Amazing to see the gals grow and develop. Life leaves its footprints on us all. The naughtiness of Bette and Tina alone on the beach was delightful. More please. Ally, you have an artist’s way with words. Each scene is painted and shaded to give depth and character. I love and adore your fine work. Thank you. Your Loyal Fan.

    2. I love Tina flashing Bette and Bette’s joke at the end – it’s my favorite part of having a partner you can really be yourself with sexually and know what you do to them. ally you wrote that brilliantly as usual.
