    Slow build

    LOVE AND PRIDE — Chapter 10

     

    Helena stirred in bed as she heard the front door close – her alarm clock told her that it was 5:50am and by the sound of the weather it was another day of rain in not so sunny Lancaster. Either Bette was coming back from a run or heading out.

    When she woke again it was 7:20 and she heard Bette’s footsteps coming upstairs. Helena tried to assess how long it had been but she was too tired and wanted to catch at least another 20 minutes sleep.

     

    At 8:00am she was downstairs ready for the day grilling toast when Bette came in wearing just a black dressing gown.

    “Want some toast ?”

    “Please “

     

    Helena got out another cup and glass and prepared breakfast for her sister. It was clear that Bette was still down- a mood that Helena knew she could stay in for days and was never fun to be around. Helena brought up the subject when they had sat in silence for a few minutes

    “You like her a lot ?”

    Bette nodded

    “And you don’t know if she likes you ?”

    “I have no idea “

    “Well I would just be around where she is – if she likes you – she will come and talk to you. I know its all new for you but you’ll get used to it. You need to relax B “

    “Its still too soon “

    “Maybe – you can’t devise a timetable for it though, if you met someone nice you cannot tell her she’ll have to wait for six weeks for you until you reach the next stage of your stage of your gay development if she’s the right person for you – you won’t want to wait “

     

    “I don’t know and I really hate this feeling of being so – out of control “

    Bette sighed.

     

    “It is called your hormones B – they will lead you astray a lot and there is no harm in that. You cannot live a predictable life forever Bette. Just find excuses to be with her “

     

    Bette nodded – she needed to find out if she had a crush on Tina or if she was just reacting the way she was because she was coming to terms with her sexuality.

So Tina is gonna be the one singing? Well, that sounds great too! I love how they are so confortable with each other, this is so meant to be! Of course, I’m biaised. But I think that one of your great talents, Ally, is that your stories always manage to unfold a B/T relationship that is totally meant to be! Please, please post again this week end! Thanks a million… Oh, I still love your description of campus life BTW, so many memories… I LOVE ENGLAND!!!

I just love it and love how you have written our B&T—the innocence, the naivety, the way they each want the other but are afraid to do anything about it. You are such an amazing author my friend and I can never get enough of your stories.

    24. “It crossed Tina for half a nano second to tell her but that would have Bette running faster than during any beeper test. ” LOL (fyi for non-UK: a beeper test = pacer test, or shuttle run. Very fast, like a sprinting test.)

    27. Oh boy, a date! Bette and Tina are just too cute in this wonderful story. If only one of them knew what the other was thinking their little romance could move along. But such is a relationship, they take time to grow. Thanks for the saturday post; how about a sunday follow up?
