    LOVE CHILD

“Hmm.”  Bette another took a long pull on her straw.

    “I’ll come with you.”

    “Seriously?”

“Yeah. Why not? Auntie Kit has to share in her little niece’s school programs too.”

Bette laughed. “Okay.” She loves when Kit refers to herself in the third person as Auntie Kit. “Sounds good.”

    “Give me a few minutes.”

Bette took up her sandwich and coffee balancing it on the tray as she finished her juice. “You have to hurry though Kit.”

“I’ll be right out and I’ll ride with you.”

Kit walked away and Bette watched her sister as Kit give instructions to a few of her staff around the counter. She smiled admiring Kit. Her sister never had the best of education, but Kit always managed to keep her life together.

She left the empty cup on the counter, her stomach already feeling much better after the long twelve ounce drink of fruit punch and she made her way out to Alice, Shane and Dana for a quick hello while she wait for Kit.

The first to see her coming towards them, Dana pulled out the chair next to her, inviting Bette to sit.

“Thanks Dane, but I can’t. I’m actually rushing? I’m just waiting for Kit.”

“Where’re you guys going?” Shane asked.

“Just to see Angelica’s after school program.” Bette looked behind her to see what was keeping Kit. “Which is to start in about thirty, thirty-five minutes, so I have to hurry.”

“What kind of program is it?” Alice looked up at Bette wondering if this is some art thingy the school wanted Bette to see. “I hope it’s not just a bunch of scribbles and dabbles on a wall. I cannot imagine going that far just to look at a bunch of six year old drawings.”

“Alice, they’re doing a dance presentation with the kids.”

“Really?” Dana’s eyes suddenly brightened with interest.

“Yeah. I think it’s based on The Princess and the Toad or something like…”

Bette stopped when Dana and Alice suddenly burst out laughing.

“The Princess and the Frog, Bette!” They both yelled at the same time, laughing at Bette then in a burst of giggles proceeded to pinch each other for jinxes.

“Right. The Princess and the Frog.” Bette rolled her eyes at them and looked behind her again, checking on Kit.
