[Marina is washing her hands. Someone knocks on the door.]
Marina: Yes?
[Bette enters and closes the door behind her.]
Marina: Hi.
Bette: (sighs) What are you doing?
Marina: What are you talking about?
[Bette sighs, and looks at the floor, composing her thoughts.]
Bette: I know it’s not my place to judge you, Marina… and I don’t know what’s going on with you and Jenny but I think this is wrong.
Marina: I’m sorry you feel that way. But I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong.


Shes going into shock…… Clear!

Marina: What’s on your mind, Jenny?
[Jenny seems nervous.]
Jenny: (a beat) I can’t be around you. Anymore. It’s confusing to me and it makes me feel insane.
Jenny: You know, Tim has been so wonderful to me.
[Marina looks down.]
Jenny: And I think that this is the very first time in my life… that I’ve actually felt safe.
[Marina stares at Jenny, then stands up.]
Marina: Do you want to be safe?
[Jenny struggles for words and sighs.]
Jenny: I’m gonna marry Tim.
[After a moment, Marina smiles.]
Jenny: I can’t imagine my life without him. I don’t want to imagine my life without him.
Marina: (nodding) Is that what you want?
Jenny: (smiles) Yes. That is what I want.
Marina: (smiling) Then I wish you well.

No its not about that. Its about Marina. Shes been admitted to the hospital.

What happened?

I dont know but Shane called me five minutes ago and told me she is in emergency care.

Oh my god, Im on my way.

Marina awoke feeling strange. Why cant I move? she asked herself as she tried to lift her arm in an effort to sit up.

Easy now. Said Shane who now arose from the seat next to the bed and held Marinas hand. You had a rough time last night.

What … Shane? Where am I.? A very confused Marina struggling to open her heavy eyes, spoke. Why am I held down?

You O.Dd yesterday. Just in case…….. do you remember? Worry now written all over Shanes face, waited patiently for her to speak.

Unsure Marina closed her eyes trying to remember what happened. Was it a dream? It had to be, she wouldnt believe that Jenny really wanted her out of her life. No she spoke silently.

No … you dont remember? Marina? Shane sat back down as it seemed that Marina had fallen back asleep. What the ***** happened? Wondering what in the world have her smoking that joint.

Sitting in the waiting room Alice, Dana, and Tonya waited expectedly for news.

Humph! You would think they would at least have the courtesy to explain what is going on.

Alice rolled her eyes at Tonya. Why is she even here? she murmured silently. Well, looking at Dana This day just keeps getting ***** better.

Just then Shane walks out of the room. How is she Shane? asking Dana as she stood to acknowledge her friend. Tonya smacked her lips because she was forced to let go of Danas hand.

What happened to her?

I dont know I found her in her office spazzed out like a zombie or something. I brought her here and the doctor told me she had ODd.

Everyone in the room gasped at the thought of Marina taking something, let alone taking enough of it to land her in the hospital. The doctor told me that she needs to be kept calm. Looking down at the ground, Shane knew that she should not divulge too much information, knowing how unaided Marina often was. She knew if she told them that she was close to hysteria last night that everyone would panic, and not to mention her privacy regarding the matter. Shell be here for a couple of more days, and then if everything checks out ok, shell be released.

Phew exclaimed Alice Is she awoke?

She was for a minute, but shes out again, maybe for a while.

Ok, Ill have to come back in a couple of hours. I left something at the house that I need to take care of. Careful how she spoke, she did not want to reveal the thing she was speaking of was Tina. When I come back Ill sit with her so you can go and get a change of clothing. Ill call the Planet on my way home. Alice got up and hugged Shane.

Thatll be fifteen eighty seven. Thanks come again. Sighing, Jenny rubbed her forehead. She had a headache that pounded it seemed liked every nerve in her brain. Damn demon she whispered closing her eyes tight trying to shake the pain.

Jumping and opening her eyes up she was startled to find a sweet old lady with a very baffled look about her. Oh Im sorry, maam. I have a hangnail.

Oh yes, I understand those can be devilish she quipped as she took her change.

After servicing customers Jenny yelled to her manager. Dave… I not feeling so well today I think Im going to go home. Getting the approval Jenny took off the apron and walked out of the grocery store. Peeping in the Planet she noticed that Marina wasnt there. Why do I even care? she asked herself, and was surprised by her own answer. Because you do. Upset that despite her mind telling her it was the wrong thing to do then to care about a selfless snake, her heart had another say, and with a resounding cry she let out a loud. ***** Turning around Jenny headed back to the Planet. She sat down at the table and waited for Marina to come out of her office.

Hey suga. How ya doing today? A very happy sounding Kit walks over and sits with Jenny.

Fine… thanks.

So, did you have a good time at my baby sisters el grande opening of Provocations? Kit asked.

Um… it was interesting. Tim was there, he told my date that I was a *****.

Well, that shouldnt have been so bad if you were there with you new friend, what her name? Robin?

I wasnt with her. I was with a guy.

Oh, Kit replied now understanding the implication.

Yeah, and you know what else? Marina was there with Robin. Jenny looked up and saw a blank looking Kit staring back at her in disbelief. Yeah we had a big falling out yesterday, thats kindve why Im here. I think I overreacted a bit.

( a phone rings in the distance)

It happens, trust me. Im sorry to have to tell you but Marina hasnt been here all morning. Maybe she slept in.

Kit, telephone. Scuse me Kit gets up and retrieves the phone. Hello this is Kit,……… hi Alice its like the city of the dead over here where is everybody? …….. Huh? She did what?……. Shes ok right.?…Sure no I understand. Ok bye. Hanging up the phone Kit walked shaking her head slowly back to Jennys table. Jenny honey, Im sorry to be the one to tell you, but Marina not here because shes in the hospital. She had an overdose early this morning, and was rushed to the hospital by Shane.

A title wave of emotions flooded Jennys head as she absorbed the information that was coming out of Kits mouth. Suddenly knowing that Marina had gone and hurt herself because of the hurt that she too felt, started to make her feel guilty. Oh my God, this wasnt suppose to happen Panicking she got up and began to hyperventilate. Its all my fault.

Jenny sweetie, calm down.

Breathing very heavily now, Jenny began to feel light headed at the thought that she was the reason behind Marinas accident. I almost killed her. (panting now) She didnt deserve that kind of treatment. Oh my God what have I done? Jenny started to shake very noticeably. She began to cry As Kit held Jenny for a while trying to get her to calm down.

Shh, its okay, its okay the doctors, the doctors said she will be just fine in a while.
