Meditations on Life – Part 7
"No wait!" Tina cried, interrupting Kit. "What did Bette tell you?"
"Bette denied it" admitted Kit. "But… the tape clearly showed."
Tina held up her hand, stopping Kit mid sentence. "I don’t care what the tape showed." Purposefully Tina rested a hand on Bette’s back, gently rubbing at the silent woman. "Clearly, if Bette had cheated she would have admitted it when first confronted."
Tina could feel the tension leave Bette’s body, and smiled knowing that Bette was listening. "I would have preferred that Bette tell me about this herself, and we will talk about that later. "
"If she was innocent she would have!" Kit exclaimed, clearly surprised by Tina’s rationale.
Tina smiled ruefully, "Kit, I would like you to meet my partner, my future wife and the mother of my daughter – Bette Porter."
"Tina, why aren’t you taking this seriously?" Sighed Kit exasperated.
"I trust Bette." Tina smiled, “it’s that simple.”
“Tina.”
“Kit, don’t you think there is enough crap in all our lives without intentionally looking for hurt?” Exasperated, Tina shook her head. “Last night I thought that… did you see your sister last night?”
“Yes,” Kit sighed.
“Then why are you pursuing this? Hasn’t there been enough pain and enough blame in this family to last a lifetime?” Tina dropped her head briefly, exhausted. “Do you really want Bette to fail that badly?”
Kit flopped down on the bed, “it’s not that I want my sister to fail Tina.”
Quietly, Tina regarded to older Porter sister, “then what is it Kit?”
“We always excuse her.” Kit said softly, not daring to look at Tina, “there is always a valid reason for her behavour…”
“Kit,” Tina whispered.
“there’s always something..”
Rubbing her eyes, Tina gives herself a moment to think. She didn’t want to believe that the older Porter was being malicious, didn’t want to question Kit’s motives, yet it seemed that she wanted to bring her sister down… that she delighted in doing so.
Sometimes, even the people you love the most in the world are hard to trust, Jenny proved that with the theft of Les Girls. “Kit,” Tina breathed, “just stop.”
The quiet, withdrawn words brought Kit up short, stopping her mid thought. “I’m sorry.” The words seemed so hollow, a lie, they meant nothing when to Kit when looking at the pale drawn features of her sister-in-law.

WOW Deean! Talk about some heavy drama going on here eh? Kit completely got my gander up the way she kept trying to force the issue. LET IT GO!!!!! More soon, and glad your studies are done! What a great feeling eh? PPS
Bette needs to get better please. It is hard to see her like that. I don’t get what is it with Kit.Bette is seek and need support not accusation. PPVS
Sometimes I like some people but do love them,I love my family and like them How can Kit keep this up,when Bette is Ill. Welcome back, glad school is out for awhile. thanks
Hi dear sweet Deean! Ah, we really missed you and this story. We are glad that you finished your stories and will be able to share more of your talent with us. As for this update, it was difficult to read, due to the open confrontation between Tina and Bette against Kit. We are glad that for the first time we see a strong Tina, who defends and stands by Bette. Contrary to what Kit does. It was heartbreaking to learn that Bette has felt Kit’s rejection since she was 15. Thanks for posting again, dear sweet Deean – Hugs & kisses on both your cheeks.- Lu & Marsh (The Salsa Aunties)
Welcome back. It was a difficult chapter to read. Why Kit would want to bring up fidelity issues and create even more pain is testament to whatever negative feelings she has harboured for years. It´s not easy being the child that didn´t succeed. Kit is jealous and will only see her own shortcomings. Her relationship with Bette is ambivalent – Having the need to cause Bette pain but also wanting to protect her. At the moment she “knows” something that can truly hurt Bette – I don´t think she wants them to break up – but it will feel good to cause a little pain – and later she will defend herself and blame Jenny for showing her.
Boy I was wondering if you’d ever come back. This was another great chapter and I especially enjoy how Tina stands up for Bette. It’s how I always thought it should have been played on the show. Bette is really sick and I find that part of the story fascinating. PPS.
Wow! Welcome back… As always your story is stirring and beautiful! You have certainly been missed. Pps
Great chapter! Kit’s being such an idiot right now, and she’s going to lose the Porter-Kennard family over her need to push the issue. I think she’s always just felt inferior, and Bette, despite her love for Kit, hasn’t exactly helped dispel that impression. But they’re grown-ups, and really, bringing up all this crap when your sister is that sick is just low. Thanks, Deeean. PPS!
What a Great way to come back!!! I always thought Kit never like Bette, but did love her. Hope Bette does get better soon. Thank you
