“What’s wrong?” Tina questioned, watching Helena’s jaw bunch and relax. They were on their way back to Helena’s house from the hospital. Bette was settled in the back seat, sleeping deeply. An occasional snore had broken the silence of the ride.
“Tired,” It was the truth, Helena was exhausted. It had been a long couple of weeks, and the events of the last couple of days had taken it’s toll. Tonight, it was the straw that broke the camels back, and Helena was feeling more like a camel then ever before.
Glancing in the rear vision mirror, Helena was happy to see that Bette was still resting. There was a point in her life that she thought that her and Bette were destined to hate each other, but in recent years they had developed a hard and valued friendship. It wasn’t something she wanted to risk, and if she was honest with herself, tonight she feared that there was something seriously wrong with the woman.
“Like everyone else.” Helena finished, pointing her thumb over her shoulder towards Bette. “Is she really going to be okay?” The brunette had held of asking this question with Bette still there, knowing that Bette couldn’t give her an honest answer to the question.
Shrugging Tina covered her mouth as she yawned. “She needs some test and some follow up consultations,” brushing the hair out of her eyes she continued, “but she is resistant.” Which put it mildly. Bette hated being ill, and she often would actively ignore an illness for as long as she could. A part of her suspected that Bette had been feeling ill for awhile now; if only she had of told her. That’s akin to saying if only he wasn’t Bette, Tina snorted to herself.
“Resistant?” Helena questioned, her eyebrows hiking, she suspected resistant was more of a diplomatic answer then the truth.
Tina grinned, half rolling on her side to face Helena. “She’ll find every excuse you could think of, and a couple more that are incoherent before she will get up and go.” There was one time when Bette had picked up a rather nasty lung infection, that Bette claimed going into the ‘haven of disease’ would actually make her sicker due to her temporarily compromised immune system. It was imaginative and cute, but insane and Tina had to trick her into going.

Great update! Kit was wrong to say anything to Bette in front of Tina. This can only cause unnecessary pain.Hope things get straightened out satisfactoryly. PPS

I think Kit needs to keep her damn mouth closed and leave B&T alone. Now glad Bette turned her back on Tina and Kit. Bette is to get up and go into the shower and go find her baby girl. Tina needs to think befor she jumps to conclusions and walks out on Bette. Thank you Great Update!!! PPVS

I hope Bette kicks Kit’s ass when the truth of the tape comes out. I hope Tina does not jump to conclusions about the tape, and that she really sees what’s on the tape. Great update. Waited a long time for this one. Thanks for posting. PPS
I’m sad I missed your time in the spotlight! Seeing as I love your writing and wouldve enjoyed picking your brain a little about your craft! Perhaps a PM is in order if youve got the time for such things… Anyways on to my comment! I love this story as you know. I hate how branded bette has become in the eyes of people who love her. It seems that those who care the most have the most difficult time forgiving and letting go of past indiscrations. My heart aches for bette. It’s funny people thing you’re being mean to bette I totally see it as her being a character that can withstand any challenge placed in front of her no matter the difficulty. Her strength allows you as the writer to have more creative freedom but that is just my humble opinion! PPS soon is not soon enough and as always I’m in awe so thank you

It was a pleasure to have you in the Spotlight and to learn more about you. *wink* As for the story, guess Kit’s stubborness is worse than her concern about her sister’s well being. Now, Tina’s demand to know the complete details of the unfortunate picture will have to be explained. We think it is time for Tina to trust what her partner has to say. Kit’s accusations are based only on what she barely saw. On the other hand, we believe she should have kept her mouth shut, if she wasn’t there, when that event happened. We are eager to find out if Tina has grown enough to stand by Bette and speak her mind to Kit’s inability to show some respect for her little sis. Gosh I so hate Kit right now, it was not her place to get this thing out in the open. She should have given bette a chance to talk to Tina before coming into that room and accuse Bette again. I mostly feel deep sympathy for Kit but right now I could smack her head against a wall. I also hope Tina won’t jump to conclusions and gives her partner the benefit of the doubt. Well there´s a time and a place for certain things, and Kits desire to “speak the truth” or get everything out in the open seems a bit unforgiving. It´s great that you made Bette just turn her back instead of marching off to war the minute Kit opened her mouth.
