    Mistake Made

“If you must know, I don’t really remember, I was thinking of Tina the whole time,” I said and sighed, “but she hates me now.”

    “It’s for the best.”

I sighed once more and found a parking space. We walked in and found Alice sitting at our usual table, stuffing her face with waffles. Shane went and sat and I ordered a coffee. I tried to call Tina, but no answer, I tried again, and it went straight to voice mail. I grabbed my coffee and went and sat down, still fuming from the morning’s events.

“Dude, seriously? You just had to tell Shane?”

“Don’t get snippy, you’d probably put it on your little chart thing for the whole world to see. And the one person I didn’t want to find out did, so good job,” I said sarcastically.

“Bette, it doesn’t matter. You already decided to end it and be done with that relationship,” Shane said, and waved to the waitress.

“I don’t want to talk about it anymore.”

“Hello gorgeous,” Shane says as a beautiful, Latina with long beautiful legs and amazingly stunning brunette hair waitress walks up.

    “Hi,” she said, blushing.

“Do you mind grabbing me a coffee and banana nut muffin?”

“Sure, does anyone want anything else,” the waitress asks as Shane checks her out, we shake our heads no.

“Ok, I’ll be back,” she says and walks away with Shane watching her walk the entire way behind the counter.

    “That’s my new girlfriend.”

“Oh Shane,” Alice sighs and sits back. Moments later the waitress walks back to the table and sets Shane’s coffee and muffin down.

“Thanks love, hey,” she calls out as the waitress starts to walk away, “are you new here?”

    “Yeah, it’s my first day.”

    “What your name?”

    “Carmen.”

“Beautiful. You’re way too cute to be a waitress,” Shane says in a low tone, and smiles. Shane’s charm is irresistible.

“Aww thanks,” she says and smiled, obviously falling for her charm.

“You’re welcome,” Shane says, and winks.

“But you know what,” Carmen says in a sweet whisper, “I’m not falling for it. I know who you are and what you do. You may think your charming smile and seductive tone works for most women, we’ll you’re right. But I am not most women.”
