Move Along
"What’s your poison tonight, sweetie?" The voice was sort of sqeaky from the being tired, the look on her voice sort of proved that more than anything.
"Um, how about just a beer."
"Alright, one beer coming right up." As the waitress left, she started scanning the room again. Though she wasn’t in the mood to talk, she just felt sort of weird right there by herself, so she felt sort of obligated to just look. There was a large group of teenagers, probably around seventeen, dancing in the corner; must of been trying to hide the fact that they were all passing around some booze. She smirked at that because it sort of reminded her what she use to do when she was younger, sneaking into clubs that only allowed adults over 21 in and just being a little bit of a rule breaker. It was fun, but her naive days had been over, a long time ago. Or, she figured they were considering she had been so fucking naive over the past couple of months. I guess ignorance really is bliss, she sighed at her sarcastic thought. Diverting her eyes from the little gang, she found herself looking at some lounging at back table, half in half out of the shadows. And the figure in it seemed to be looking at her, almost like the person was studying her. Probably some guy, she figured noticed the way the person was sitting, laid back and chin raised. He can have fun looking though, cuz that was all he would be doing. But then the person sat forward, a beer bottle caught between two of the person’s fingers as she leaned on her hands. Carmen was rather taken back by the person, she seemed sort of familar but then didn’t. She was wearing with a gray hat, allowing the shaggy, short raven hair to sort of cover her eyes. The shirt she was wearing was some sort of long sleeved, button up with black and white stripes, sort of reminding her of the way Shane would dress. The worn out blue jeans with a hole in one knee nearly covered up the black all stars. Everything about her screamed total butch, but she seemed to dress slightly elegant and her posture made her feel sort overcoming. And the eyes, what little she could see under the bangs, were kept firmly on her. The glint from the neon and ordinary lights above made her eyes seem sort of like emeralds, only a shade darker than Shane’s were; but the difference could be seen plainly. Shane had always had this sad look, just a small hint of it hidden away in her green eyes. But this girl that was practically gawking at her, she could see some sort of spark. No pain could be read, only this strange whisp of lonliness mixed with uncertain happiness.
