Bette still couldn’t believe what she was hearing, leaning back and pushing onto Tina’s shoulders so that she could look at her wife’s face. She looked deep into Tina’s eyes with an expression the blonde couldn’t quite read and it scared her a bit to say the least.

"Are you saying you want to have children?"

It was an even tone and Tina’s heart had begun to beat a mile a minute. She suddenly felt very shy and regretted bringing up that specific topic of conversation. Clearly Bette wasn’t ready and Tina felt she should have eased her wife into the situation instead of throwing it at her all in one shot.

"Well I . . I di- I mean . . I do" When Tina saw the change in Bette’s eyes she mistook it for a coming rejection and was quick to back up her shaky statement, "But not right now! There’s no rush, we can wait . . you know until its something both of us wants"

Bette wanted to smile at the adorable way her wife was stammering and tripping over her own words. She could see the nervousness written all over Tina’s face and it made her want to laugh but she held it in.

Tina had lowered her head in shame and sadness so Bette placed her index and middle fingers under her wife’s chin to be able to peer into those hazel orbs once more, "And what makes you think this is something I don’t want?"

Tina opened her mouth to defend her previous statement, Bette’s own words completely bypassed her but only for a moment. As soon as the words sunk in, Tina closed her mouth and looked at her wife with hope and shock.

"What?"

Bette shrugged and this time she let her smile slowly stretch across her lips, "I don’t know. I kinda love the idea of a little you running around the house. Maybe more than one"

Tina’s eyes widened and filled with tears as a wide smile lit up her entire face, "Really?"

"Yeah" Bette whispered smiling as she lifted her hand to catch the tears that had fallen from her wife’s cheeks, "I love you, Tina. I wanna have a baby with you"

Tina laughed through her tears and grabbed onto her wife’s face, kissing her passionately with all the love she felt inside. She kissed Bette long and hard, until there was no more air left in her lungs. They broke apart with a gasp, resting their foreheads together as they slowly regained their breathing.

"I love you too baby"

The blonde smiled, opening her eyes to see her wife smiling back at her through her own tears. She cried harder, wiping Bette’s tears before resuming their kiss. A kiss filled with so many promises, happiness for what was to come and hope for the future. After all they had been through, they realized that no matter how happy they found themselves, it could always get better.
