Music Is My Savior
"Because I’m amazing?" Tina replied with a shrug and a smirk as she continued about her task.
"Well, I don’t know about that" A smirk spread across Bette’s lips and she let out a hearty laugh when Tina playfully smacked her temple. Tina laughed with her before she saw the expression on Bette’s face change. She grew silent as Bette shook her head, "No, I’m serious T.You’ve done something to me, you know. You’ve got me completely under your spell. You’ve ruined me for anyone else"
With a smile, Tina grabbed Bette’s hand and kissed the slender fingers, "Hmm . . I think I like the sound of that"
"I mean it" Bette replied with a laugh, "Tina, I – you . . you’ve mended my broken heart"
Tina’s eyes immediately lifted and locked with Bette’s. The expression in her eyes was completely unreadable, there were too many emotions swirling around at once.
Bette watched as they filled with tears and she brought a hand to Tina’s cheek in preparation to wipe them away, her thumb slowly stroking over the soft milky skin.
"Marry me" She asked tenderly after a few moments of silence.
Tina’s eyes widened and the look in those glassy hazel eyes gave her away before the blonde even had a chance to speak.
"What?"
"You heard me" Bette smiled.
"W-why?" It wasn’t the reply neither had expected and right away Tina wanted to kick herself. It was all just so unexpected that she didn’t know how to react. She was beyond happy.
Bette couldn’t help but playfully roll her eyes before adjusting herself on the hard wooden floor. She propped her head up in an upraised palm and used her free hand to grab one of Tina’s.
"Because I can’t live without you and to be honest . . after everything we’ve been through . . I don’t even want to try. No one knows me like you do and no one ever will. You’re perfect for me, baby"
Tina couldn’t help the wave of tears that had begun to fall from her eyes as she pressed her shaky lips together in an effort not to bawl like a child. Though she had considered her life with Bette to be something that was going to last forever, she never would have imagined marrying the brunette. It was everything Tina realized she wanted, everything she had always wanted.
She watched as Bette angled her body so that she could reach up and stick her hand under one of the couch cushions, pulling out a black velvet box that caused her heart to skip a beat.
"Say yes, baby. Say you’ll marry me. Say you’ll stay with me"
She watched in silence as Bette opened the box in front of her revealing the most beautiful engagement ring she had ever seen. Tina burst into laughter as the tears continued to flow down her face. She cried and laugh with the all the happiness she felt, unable to take her eyes away from the symbol of Bette’s love as she tried to get herself under control.
Bette watched with a smile as her emotion soon to be fiancé regained her composure, her smile widening as Tina finally looked up and nodded repeatedly. With a breath of laughter of her own, Bette leaned in for a hard, passionate kiss. She pulled back as her own tears began to stream down her cheeks and looked down through blurred vision so that she could slip the ring on Tina’s finger.
Tina glanced at the ring before throwing her arm around Bette’s neck, pulling her in for a deeper kiss. They kissed through their tears, laughing and whispering "I love you’s" in between each sweet embrace.
