Chapter 22

Bette eyes Tina from across the dance floor. She was a woman with a mission. She walked briskly over toward Tina.

Alice: Hey Bette. What are you doing here?

Alice looked nervous. She wanted to avoid a scene if at all possible. She was no match for Bette.

Bette: Excuse me Al.

Bette gently pushed Alice aside and continued to Tina.
Shane watched nervously from across the room. She hoped she had done the right thing by calling Bette. Alice watched in horror.

Bette: Excuse me but can I cut in? ( It was more of a demand that a question).

The red head turned to Bette and sensing her anger she moved aside. Tina took one look at Bette and her face flushed of all color.

Tina: No, Kate, its ok. Stay.

Bette eyed her competition down.

Bette: Kate ( spitting our her name) I think it best that you let me cut in.

Kate looked all out of place.

Kate: I think this woman ( pointing to Tina) would rather I stay here.

Bette: Fine, stay. ( She turned to Tina) What are you doing? Youre dating already?

Tina: Miss Porter, would it matter if I was?

Bette: Why are you talking like that? Are you drunk?

Bette eyes the cocktail in Tinas right hand.

Tina: Maybe. ( Tina giggled).

Bette: Come on let me take you back to Alices.

Tina: No, Bette, Im staying here wth my new friend Kate!

Bette: Tee ( Bette pleaded) please. We really need to talk.

Tina: No we dont Bette. We chose to ***** Candace and so now I can chose to ***** whomever! Thats how infidelity works. Although you should probably know that right? I mean you wrote the rules!

Tinas words stung Bette. She had never seen her behave like this.
Shane noticed the look on Bettes face and went to help.

Shane: Guys. Why dont we take this outside.

Tina: No Shane, I think Ill stay here.

Tina took one more look at Bette. She almost looked sorry for her hurtful words. She leaned in close to Bettes ear

Tina: I want you to see this.

Tina backed away and planted her lips firmly on the red heads. Kate raised her hand and plunged them into Tinas blonde curls. Bette could see Tinas tongue exploring the other womans. Bette starred in awe

Bette: How could you?

Tears were now streaming down Bettes face, she couldnt hold them back if she wanted to. Shane grabbed Bettes arm and led her outside.

Dana: Hey ladies.

Dana was just on her way insie. She noticed Bette was covering her face.

Dana: Bette, are you ok?

She didnt answer.

Shane: Shell be fine. We are handling it,

Dana: Ok, well if you need me Bette.

Bette waved her hand to acknowledge she heard Dana

Dana: Is Alice in there?

Shane nodded and pointed to the bar. Alice was standing there with her arms around Gabby.
Dana almost passed out
