Naive Perception of Perfect Chapter 28

    Chapter 28

Tina didnt want to hurt Bette, it was never her intention. The idea of divorce made her cringe, but Tina knew it would have to come down to this. She had decided she would write Bette a letter. She would tell her why she needed this divorce and she would also tell her that she planned on going to the house while Bette was out to get her stuff. She didnt want to make any more waves then necessary.

    Dearest Bette,

I am writing you this letter for so many reasons. Please bear with me if my brain tends to jump around.
First, I want to apologize. The girls told me what I did to you last night. I feel awful. I wont blame it solely on the alcohol, but it didnt help. You know what a terrible drinker I am. Anyway, you should know that I feel nothing but regret over that.
The next thing, and this one is important
I am going to go through with the divorce. Bette, please dont be upset. I have to do this. You and I both know that it wasnt just the Candace thing. We have been on a bumpy road for quite some time. I want to make this and painless as possible, but I guess that isnt realistic. Also, while you are reading this I am at the house. I wanted to be there when I knew you wouldnt be. Not because I dont want to see you. But because I dont have the strength to fight with you. I dont want to have a momentary lapse in judgement and then feel awful about it. If you know what I mean. I am collecting my clothes and some personal stuff. The rest we handle with the lawyers in the divorce. I guess we will have to split the property and other assets. I want you to know that in time we will be able to talk again. I cant keep Bette Porter out of my life, afterall you used to be my life. But give me time and give me space. We will eventually be friends ( emphasis on friends).
One last thing, and this is more important then the before
I forgive you Bette. I love you. I just cant trust you and that is why I am doing this. Please dont ever think for a second that I stopped loving you. Its just maybe we fell OUT of love. It happens to even the strongest couples. Stop beating yourself up over what happened with you know who, its ok now. Lets just both keep our dignity and pride and move on.

    Love Always,
    Tee

P.S. I bought you vitamins, they are in the top shelf in the bathroom. Take them. You know how sick you get,

Tina glanced over the letter one last time. She knew she lied about some things in there. She didnt forgive Bette. But she knew Bette needed to hear that right now. She also knew in time, she would learn to forgive her. She placed the letter in an enevelope and was about to seal it shut. Something got her attention out of the corner of her eyeher wedding ring. This she knew would be painful. She slowly removed it from her ring finger and placed it in the envelope. She took one last look at the piece of white gold that once held her heart and sealed the envelope.

Tina spotted Alice and Dana getting ready to leave.

Tina: are you going out with Bette.

    Alice pouted.

Alice: Yes and you owe us!!

Tina: Dont tell her about the divorce or me being at the house. Ok?

    Alice: Youve changed your mind?

Tina: No, no, Its just, it will be better coming from me and it will keep you guys out of the hot seat. Just give her this.

    Tina handed Dana the letter.

Dana: You sure this is what you want Tee?

Tina: Im sure. Just make sure shes ok.

Alice and Dana were both relieved to see Tina did still care about Bette. Maybe they wouldnt ever be Bette and Tina the couple again, but hopefully the group would be able to come back together.

Alice took Danas hand and the two headed out of the door.

    1. This direction for Tina sucks. Why does Tina tell Bette she will always love her and then says she guess they fell out of love? Why does Tina say she forgives Bette when she doesn’t? This Tina is all over the place. She doesn’t and can’t trust Bette, but she lies to her and schemes with their mutual friends to go behind her back and remove stuff from the house. Livz, I love your writing. I know you like drama, but what gives…it doesn’t add up?
