Bette looked at Tina and beckoned her to come closer.

“This lady here daddy is my girlfriend.”

Bette beamed when she introduced Tina, something that didn’t go by unnoticed by her father. He stuck out his hand.

“Goodmorning Tina. I hope you had a goodnight sleep. Come give me a hug.”

“Goodmorning mr. Porter. Yes I did, thank you.”

“So you’re my daughter’s girlfriend. She has a very good taste. You are very beautiful. I guess I can say, she inherited my taste. I hope she didn’t inherited any more of my flaws.”

All three started to laugh. At that moment the door opened and Sonny and Kit walked in. Bette told her sister that she and Tina were taking her father out for a stroll. Kit said that she was about to ask Bette to do that because she wanted to talk with the medical staff. She also had some arrangements to make and first of all, she had to call Sonny’s parents to ask how her son faired. So a lot of little things that needed to be done.

The sisters parted to do what need to be done.

Melvin didn’t want to go out in a wheelchair. He insisted to walk. So in between Tina and Bette, he had the time of his life. They talked about daily things, no heavy conversation. Melvin asked the girls what their goals in life were and how far they were in reaching it. He asked questions and both Tina and Bette answered. While answering his questions he observed them and watched their interaction. His father heart was proud because he could see the love blooming between these two girls. They approached a bench.

“Mr. Porter, you want to have a seat?”

Tina noticed while they were walking that Melvin was getting tired. Happily he accepted the offer. They walked to the bench and sat down.

Melvin sighed and looked around him.

“You know, he said to no one in particular, I never noticed that nature is so beautiful. I was always occupied with the wrong things. I had a beautiful wife and two beautiful daughters but I never took the time to appreciate what I had. I always was looking for new, better, more beautiful things in live. While all the while, the most beautiful things in live were right in front of me.
