    Sonny
    On his way to his parents, Sonny called his mother and explained to her what was going on. Of course she didn’t mind that Junior would spent some time with her and his grandfather. She was relieved to hear that Kit was finally going to make amends with her father. She was also very happy that her sister Bette, was found. The circumstances were sad though.

    Sonny didn’t stay that long with his parents. Before he left, he called Kit to hear how things were going in New York. When he got back from his call, he had a little smile on his face. He informed his parents about his father-in-law’s situation and also told them that instead of joining his wife, he would go to the gig of Candance, hoping to find Bette. If he would, he would ask her to join him to her father.
    He hugged his parents, kissed his baby boy and left. He informed Jerry that there was a change of plans. Jerry would stay with Kit and Sonny would go to the suburbs of L.A. in search of Bette. Hopefully she would show up at the Joint. If so, Sonny would try to talk her over and join him to go to Kit and her father. If not he would let her call her sister and talk to her. And if that wouldn’t work, he would join Kit later on. But he hoped that he could persuade her to go to her father and Kit.

     

    At John’s Juke Joint
    Candace arrived early at the club. She and her band members tested the instruments and equipment and did some test rehearsals. When everything was fine, Candace went back to prepare her voice for the gig. She was about to start with her excercises when her phone went.

    “Candace Jewell speaking.”

    “Hi Candace, Sonny here. I call to tell you that Kit won’t be coming. Something urgent came up that she had to attend. So instead of her, you will have to deal with me. Can you give me the exact adress?”

    4. Thank you for reading my story. I realize that by posting at such an irregular base, I might lose readers. But life throws curfballs at me I have to attend. Then I have to read and get back into the flow of the story and let the flow take me wherever it wants to take me. The part where Bette is hiding her heritage was planned to come out differently. Anyway, the way it came out now I can live with it. Once again, thanks for reading my story and thank you for your comments.

      I just read your post, I really like it, I may understand why Bette tries to hide her racial heritage, traumatic episodes in people life sometimes lead to that, including her own father behavior toward her; hopefully the love and comprehension of her girlfriend would help Bette to overcome her flaws and insecurities. In this story, Candace acts as selflessly person, and I’m asking myself if her driving force is something different than altruistic intentions to reunite the Porter family.
      I truly enjoyed this chapter; I will be waiting for the next one, pps.

    7. How could I ever stop commenting on this story.
      I imagine that Bette has a lot of resentment for what happened to her. It is as if she said: Do not touch this subject, because it makes me guilty, and I do not want to feel this guilt … and remembering the past makes you feel angry instead of admitting their errors and their true feelings.
      I loved this chapter.
      the whole universe.
