    James looked at Bette in surprise

     

    “Really ?”

     

     

    “I trust your judgement. In fact – sit down  – I may as well tell you what I have planned”

     

     

    James sat down

     

     

    “You have been loyal to me James – you have been in my life as long as Tina and in the old days you took as much crap as she did

     

    ”“Really “ he began

     

     

    “NO – hear me out – you are worth more than just being my assistant. So – and I have talked to Tina about this and she thinks its an excellent idea”

     

     

     

    “What ?”

     

     

    “Every month I am going to give you a budget – at first its only going to be $5000. You are going to make your own purchases – lets see how much you have learnt from me over the years. At first you and I will spilt whatever profit you make on what you buy but that is negotiable “

     

     

     

    “Wow Bette “

     

     

    “I am not going to want to do this full time for the rest of my life – you are the only person who I really would want to run my business if I started to cut my hours back “

     

     

     

    “You want to spend more time with Tina and Angie ?”

     

     

     

    “In time I would hope that Tina and I would have another baby – and after missing so much of Angie’s early years I am determined that I would not miss any of any subsequent children’s lives “

     

     

     

    “Me as your successor ?”

     

     

    “This is a long term plan James – lets see what you can do. It may amaze you but I do listen to you more than I admit. Find a seller for that piece and we will talk about the first $5000 after that. “

     

     

     

    “Gee Bette – I just don’t know what to say “

     

     

    “How about – thanks Bette I wont let you down “

    “I know that “ Bette said smiling “I should have done this years ago but as you know I have issues with giving up control. Let me ask you – who do you think will be interested in that piece of art ?”

I knew things were going too well for them, I was just waiting for the drama. What in the hell has helena done now? Can hardly wait. Please don’t leave us waiting too long. Thanks for posting.

    13. I love the story, but I was looking forward to reading more of their time together as a family for Valentine’s Day. I think that Tina may have gotten a call that the job for the script rewrite may have been cancelled, thanks to Helena, or maybe Helena brought their old house or something happened to her family back home. That’s it for my guess work. Please post soon.
