Chapter 63

“Tina – have you seen Sheba ?” Bette asked as she walked into their bedroom

Tina looked up from her book. She had gone to bed an hour earlier to read leaving Bette and Shane chatting. It had been a tough day for her and she felt the need to take herself away and get her head around what had happened.

“She walked in her about 40 minutes ago – we had a cuddle and she nibbled the pages of my book then she decided I wasn’t that interesting and she walked out again “

“I just like to know where she is “

“Is she in Shane’s room ?”

“We just checked “

“I would look in Angie’s room “

“Of course – where else would she be ?”

Bette wandered out and when she returned five minutes later she was smiling

“She was sitting on the window ledge in Angie’s room “

“I am surprised she wasn’t on her bed “

“I brought her back into the living room and gave her some of her crunchie food – she has settled her ass down on the sofa “

“It must be a cat dream come true – she has some great views of the birds on the buildings below us “

“Yes – she does seem to find a lot to watch and amuse her “

“She seems to be settling in “

“Yeah “ Bette closed the bedroom door “ Settling in AND taking over “

Tina chuckled – it was funny to watch how much Bette objected to how much the kitten dominated their home life but she knew that the brunette adored the small tabby. Bette sat on the bed and yawned

“How are you doing ?”

“I feel a little bit better “ Tina admitted

“Good –  right –  time for bed “ Bette kissed Tina on the lips and got up and headed into their bathroom. Tina went back to her book and was about to turn the page over when she looked up as Bette walked back  – she was naked. Tina smiled – her attention immediately on the sight in front of her eyes. Bette had a natural beauty that the years had never been able to strip from her as they had from others. Her long dark hair was tied back and she looked much younger than Tina knew she was.  Her illnesses had taken their toil but these were not obvious – she was still as beautiful as she had been when Tina had first met her at a gallery show all those years ago. Tina smiled at the sight –  the sight that was hers – only she saw this beautiful woman in her true colours.
