Not Just an Addiction – Chapter 7
“You know you’re not supposed to go swimming for at least an hour after you eat,” Jenny warned as Shane stripped off beside Bette and Tina’s pool.
“I like living on the wild side, Dr. Schecter,” Shane answered as she playfully threw her shirt onto Jenny’s lap and jumped naked into the water. Night had fallen suddenly as everyone finished eating dinner, and the moonlight glinted off the ripples of water in the pool, making pretty reflections on the faces of the three women left on the patio.
“Come on guys, get in!” Shane called to Alice and Jenny, who were lounging on the edge of the pool with their feet dipped into the water. Lara, Kit and Angus had already gone into the kitchen to clean up from the barbeque, while Bette and Tina were putting Angelica down for the night.
“I can’t, Shane,” Alice replied, holding up her injured finger. “Salad-related mishap.”
“Oh, you’re fine as long as you keep the bandage on,” Shane said, swimming over to Alice. She flicked her hand across the water in order to send little waves crashing over her friend.
“Hey!” Alice yelled, laughing and leaning away. She kicked her feet in the pool to splash Shane’s face in retaliation.
“See, now you might as well get in,” Shane said, sputtering through the water Alice had just sent her way.
“Alright, alright,” Alice relented, standing up to take off her skirt and tank top. Jenny stripped off her sundress, and they both dove into the pool.
“What is it about skinny-dipping at night?” Jenny asked when she had emerged from the water. “It just seems to fit, doesn’t it?”
“Yeah, that’s why all those horror movies start off with the girl skinny-dipping in the deserted lake at midnight, just before the insane axe murderer kills her,” Alice said.
Shane gave her friend a sarcastic look. “You’re weird, Alice.”
“What? It’s true,” Alice laughingly replied.
Shane’s eyes suddenly shifted to a point behind Alice. “Hey, Lara! I see you slinking away,” Shane yelled at the redhead who was attempting to sneak unnoticed back inside Bette and Tina’s house. “Come join in all the naked fun,” Shane said, grinning mischievously.

ah, there you are again! Great update. I think the thing I like most about your writing is how you take the characters we know and flesh them out, in the context we know from the show. Without having any external angst, you manage to move the characters along nicely, which is a nice alternative to the standard fare! Again, your dialogue, pace and tension are spot on. Thanks for continuing the story….as you surely know by now, I’ll be reading as long as you post!
Happy dance! Love the update because I must admit I’ve been checking. As always, your pacing and tension (gawd! but it’s so well done!) and truth to the characters as we know them makes for excellent reading. Of course, I am looking forward to ‘the talk’ and hope nothing interrupts them–but if it did you’d be handling it in a realistic way so carry on with how your creativity is taking you. When is Showtime hiring you as Chief Lace Storyline Specialist?
yay, awesome job yet again and i agree with Min, they should hands down hire you to write all of the Lace action! :)You capture their characters down to the spot!
I have been waiting for this for ages… and I guess I’ll accept some of the blame if you put another chapter up quickly! Haha I wont write anymore fics so you dont get distracted :P I’m seriously hooked.
As usual, I love it. The tension makes me want to take a spatula to my eye, but other than that I’m doing just fine. That was my favorite chapter yet! Keep up the awesome work. No pressure ;)
Okay, I haven’t read this, but who the hell gave it a 1 star? =/
yay i am firsti like the story so far really good read
Great update! I can’t wait till the talk with Alice!
cool I can’t wait to see what happens next with them please post soon I love it
I just read all 7 chapters! I really like the way you describe the feelings from Lara’s and Alice’s perspective. It’s very well written! Btw, you’re a real tease…every time they get close, someone interrupts (very very frustrating ;) ).
