    Now That Was Different 10

Bette turned to Carmen and just gazed at her for a moment. She was really a beautiful woman and Bette couldnt get enough.

“I cant concentrate when you are staring at me like that,” Carmen states never taking her eyes off the road

    Bette just smiled, “Sorry.”

“Oh no, I love it when you stare at me like that just not when Im driving,” Carmen smiles taking Bettes hand that was resting on her thigh and kissing it

    “I shall refrain when driving.”

    “Thank you love.”

Bette turned her eyes to the road with a smile and was content with the comfortable silence that had descended on the car. Bette leaned back and closed her eyes listening the sounds of the forest. She and Carmen had decided to go on a drive through the forested hills together.

My sweet Elizabeth my warning, remember my warning. You can save yourself the dark place. Open you eyes and see.

At hearing this Bette jerked her eyes open and watched as a tractor trailer swerved over into their lane.

    “No,” she screamed

Carmen saw this as well and swerved to the right to avoid the truck and they went crashing through the forest. The car kept going at a fast pace until they impacted the large tree that saved them from their ultimate demise.

    *Bette*

I jerked awake and groaned at the pain that caused after having a flash of the accident. I hadnt realized that my mother had warned me until this moment.

“Are you alright,” came the sweet timbre of Carmens voice

I turn my eyes to her as Im clutching at my chest. I smile at her despite the pain and nod my head. Looking around I realize that I am still lying in Carmens room next to her. I was sure that when they, the doctors, found me here that they would make me move. I guess not.

“You were remembering the accident werent you?”

I move slightly so I can see Carmen better and I nod my head again.

“It goes on an almost continuous loop in my head,” says Carmen, “Its hard to get away from.”

    “I…was…warned.”

Carmen furrows her brow in confusion, “What do you mean you were warned?”
