Oasis Part 6
Mornings with Dana were always insane, she tended to be a hard task master. She woke me from a deep, unintentionally startling me.
“Sorry.” She whispered sheepishly, patting me on my shoulder. Furrowing her brows she pulls at my tank-top, alerting me to the cold and the dampness of the shirt. “Mieja.” Gently, barely even touching my forehead she checks for a fever. Shaking her head, she leans back onto the bed. “No fever.” She confirms what I already knew.
Leaning forward, shivering despite myself as the cold air hits my damp skin and clothing I kiss her on her cheek. “Morning músico. I’m gonna hop into the shower.” I didn’t want to be so short, but I had no logical answer to her questions, and I really wanted to clean up.
30 minutes later I am walking out of the shower, wrapped in a towel and drying my hair with another. Dana had laid out a suit for me, a power suit that I haven’t worn in about… 3 years. It wasn’t the most ‘in vogue’ fashion, but the white suit always impressed. I only hoped that I could still fit into it.
I throw the towel onto my bed, preparing to get dressed and notice that she too had changed the sheets. She could be mightily domestic and sometimes I completely forgot about that, but it always came in handy given my tendency to forget about the small things.
I quickly changed, putting on some light make-up before bagging my laptop and joining Dana in the Kitchen. I could smell her breakfast and knew she had intended to feed me before we left.
“Eggs, bacon, juice.” Dana introduced to me, placing them on the table before taking her seat, digging into her own plate. The smell is intoxicating, and I quickly made my way to the table. The eggs were fluffy, with red peppers and onion and the bacon crispy bordering on cremated – just the way I liked it.
The juice looked good, but I was never really sure how it was going to taste. Dana was a huge fan of mixing juices, sometimes they were successful, other times… were potentially dangerous.
“It’s orange juice.” Dana told me, noticing my hesitation. “I thought a little vitamin C couldn’t hurt, and a little less caffeine.” The pointed comment at the end wasn’t unnoted. I did have an unusual attachment to caffeinated beverages.

Hi, Deean! We are glad that the elbow is healing nicely, although slowly. Hope those painkillers help you to be more at ease. As for the story, it is getting more and more interesting. Now we have Tina coming into the stage and we can see lots of things coming in. Please continue to amaze us with your talent, as you have. PPS Hugs and kisses on both your cheeks. – Lucero & Marsha (Proud Salsa Aunties to the ever loving JC and Eunichick)
Well you got the witch Jenny, and Our Tina. Dana is so sweet and gentle. thanks Hope your elbow geat better.
i actually smile when i read tina walked in! i’ve liked this from the start, i love how you write the girls’ friendships, but now it’ll get really interesting…let the games begin!! pps
So glad that Bette has only to do battle with pneumonia, that can be handled. And the arrival of my most favorite and beautiful blonde. Yeah! Let’s see how this will turn out. I noticed there was no electrical current between them when they shook hands, ahh, I guess they will have to work on that. Loving it. PPS
Hello Tina! I’m glad Bette is OK (at least for now, I don’t think I’m gonna trust you there Deean!!). Great story, PPS.
Doing a little happy dance: ) Tina has arrived. pps
Happy to see Tina in this story!!! Glad Bette is going to be OK!!! Thanks PPS
Hello My Beautiful Dee… hmmmmm I am not sure I believe it is something as common as “pneumonia” being overseas offers so many foreign viruses and illnesses to become infected with and I’m also concerned that there is something more psychological going on in the mind of our Beautiful Bette… So there it is… there is the DRAMA that one might expect when someone introduces both the snake “Jenny” and the Blonde that is “Tina” hehe… I was wondering when you were going to sneak her in there and I was almost certain it was going to be within the creative capacity… maybe just maybe we will see some traveling going on here… maybe Bette and Tina might make a side trip to Bette’s Oasis and work on this story that Bette is so passionate to tell… and Dana seems to have some layers to work through… she seems so much like that Dana we know and love she has a certain naivety and a certain lack of confidence that we are all to familiar with… hmmmmm I just wonder if and who she might shack up with… maybe Helena… that would be different… LMAO… yeah that might be fun… you my most amazing friend continue to weave with intricacies and delicate maneuvering threads of emotional prowess… keep kicking serious butt… love and hugs, JC (Latin Nephew to those Salsa Angels and ever loving Cuzzie to the ever talented Eunichick)
OK OK, Tina has appeared!!!!! But are you tricking us about Bette’s illness? Such drama, such drama. I’m suffering here. Suffering, I tell ya. PPS.
Goodbye Tina! Hey I can always hope! Now, about this illness of Bette’s. I don’t think it is going to be as simple as it sounds on the surface. There seems to be references to previous illness, which leads me to believe that Bette knows what is wrong with her, but if she knows, the Dr should soon know too since she has taken the tests, and then for a minute it sounded like she doesn’t know! yes I definitely think something happened to Dana to make her like that, she seems almost emotionally crippled. All these questions and many more will soon be answered..especially, IS BETTE STILL ALIVE!!
Hi Spumoni, nice to see you!
